With students going back to school soon I wanted to recognize a local rising 7th grader in Cherokee County. Avery McNabb lives in the Hiwassee Dam community and attends Hiwassee Dam Middle School. We asked Avery to come out this summer and paint a large rock that we have on the property. We told her she could paint whatever she wanted. She painted some very beautiful flowers and a lovely butterfly to make this rock no longer a ordinary rock, but a beautiful piece of art!! She did a wonderful job for us! Today we took a drive North without a destination in mind. We drove through the North Georgia Mountains, into Tennessee, then to North Carolina and back to Georgia. Along the way I saw a sign for the Hiwassee Dam, we took a quick turn and found this gorgeous and serene lake at the top of the dam and beautiful river at the bottom. There was not a human in sight and only the sound of nature surrounding us. We have not felt so peaceful and happy in a very long time! #hiwasseedam #northcarolina #daytripping #peaceful

The round holes in the ceiling conceal "downlight" units which concentrate strong direct light on persons and objects.
