Staycation crafting. This year, I am trying to save money and reduce my travel miles. So when my parents said they were going on a camping/ road trip for 3 weeks, my partner and I offered to house sit for as long as we could. This 'staycation' worked out perfectly because we were able to enjoy a fancy holiday feel (pool swims, lazy Sunday sleep ins, fabulous veiws of forested mountains), while still being able to afford some amazing food, coffee, etc, from local businesses. All this and we only had to drive about an hour from our home. Best of all, we were able to unwind and relax with my parents' beautiful dog Luna. As I was focusing on relaxing, I only allowed myself to bring enough craft gear for a couple of projects. 1. Birthday gift for my nephew. Handmade bookends. 2. North of the Yalgorup lake system is the 2000yr old organism rocks of the Thrombolites in Lake Clifton. On the westside of these interlocking lakes the landscape rises onto a limestone ridge & up over to the Indian ocean. Maybe once upon a time, these too were living Thomborlites?
