A transparent glass jar with pure silver fumes. I made this jar as an experiment, using it to test a certain technique in which I took pure silver metal, exposed it to fire, and held the warm glass above it. Particles of silver adhered to the glass, causing it to have special effects and various colors that change according to the direction of light and the background behind it. I kept this cute jar for my private collection, but I would be happy to create similar ones for those interested, or as inspiration for other types of glassware, like a glass for example. The paperweight with the 3 fishes was made by the brothers Emanuele Colizza and Carlo Colizza. They are the sons of master Italian glass artist Valerio Colizza. The family’s studio is called Antichi Angeli. The paperweight with the 2 fishes was made by Elio Raffaeli at his Ars Murano glass studio. Sasquatch the paperweight and Sasquatch the movie character. The creature known as Sasquatch is sometimes referred to as Bigfoot. It is a large and hairy mythical humanoid alleged by some people to be inhabiting forests in North America, particularly in the Pacific Northwest. Should you be visiting the woods, he just might be walking near you. This glass paperweight celebrating Sasquatch was created by the artists at Glass Eye Studio in Seattle, Washington. Novák ve své práci obnovuje zapomenuté techniky, jako je lithyalinové sklo, a experimentuje s optickým sklem v sérii Pretty Mirage. Předložené dílo představuje další z Novákových technologických specialit – vlastní unikátní materiál sklo-kámen. Jak je pro autora příznačné, opět pracuje se symboly a archetypy a promyšlenou manipulací zpochybňuje, nebo naopak potvrzuje jejich význam v současnosti. Tentokrát se jedná o starořeckou karyatidu, která místo horizontálně položené římsy nese vertikální průzračně modrý skleněný trojboký hranol. Vertikalita ve smyslu pohledu k nebesům je pravděpodobně jedním z nejvlastnějších lidských fenoménů. Již od nepaměti je spojena s hledáním smyslu života či dovoláváním se božské entity. Pohled vzhůru již není pohledem do magické nebeské klenby vynášené božským Atlantem, ale pohledem do střechy vlastního životního obydlí. Každý člověk se tak stává pomyslným atlantem či karyatidou, vynášejícími tíhu nebeské zodpovědnosti. Vertical Blue je zcela prvním objektem vytvořeným touto jedinečnou technologií, a proto se jedná o sběratelský unikát. Dílo pochází přímo z ateliéru umělce. ANNOUNCING 📯 New Exhibition NYARU a solo exhibition by Robert Fielding showing at Canberra Glassworks 11 May to 27 July @robertfielding_ is a contemporary artist of Pakistani, Afghan, Western Arrernte and Yankunytjatjara descent, who lives in Mimili Community in the remote Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands. Fielding combines strong cultural roots with contemporary views on the tensions between community life and global concerns.
