I loved creating this garden party soft pastels wedding arch. I pre built the greenery bundles using fibrefloral , chicken wire and zip ties the night before. I peppered in a few flowers in the studio before packing up- during the install it started raining. You’ll find lily of the valley, butterfly ranunculus, spray roses, hyacinths, tulips and bunny grass in this foam free design. The reason I’m working #foamfree is because for many years I never thought about how floral foam can contaminate the water supply with tiny microplastics or how it “biodegrades” in the landfill into lots of tiny microplastic pieces and now that I’m aware, it’s my responsibility to do better (and that’s why I’ve been working foam free for quite some time now!) 🌎❤️ I had fun with this and I am continuously reminded that I am so lucky to have a career that allows me to do what I love and continue to experiment with new things. As nature intended 🌿 A beautiful combination of Yorkshire grown bright flowers and foliage. This foam free design was inspired by a country cottage garden and is a style that is my favourite to create. It’s quite a challenge and a little trial and error selecting flowers that will withstand being placed into moss, the reason why traditional florists use floral foam is it’s ability to retain water and even the finest stems can be inserted. However, the downside of foam (other than it’s toxicity) is that it’s single use plastic once the stem is placed it’s harder to manipulate to create a natural feel, hence the reason a bed of chrysanthemum is usually used to cover the foam rather than lay flowers how they grow in nature. The base isn’t able to be used again whereas I encourage the moss base to be deconstructed and flowers added again, again and again. We are thrilled to announce a maximalist summer flower class where Swallows & Damsons and @pearllowe combine flowery forces to lavish you with a feast of pattern, colour, petals, nostalgia, and all the bounty of the English countryside. Join us at Pearl’s glorious Somerset home where Anna will teach the creation of a lush summer bowl of florals and fruits which will then form a full tablescape for our feasting style lunch. In the afternoon we will work together, using the Georgian home as a backdrop to create a statement, natural, foam free and sustainable installation that could be straight from a storybook! @just_belle will join us all day to capture the ethereal scenes. Our Kyma headboard is inspired by the undulating ocean water and named after the Greek word for ‘wave’. Signature to Ensemblier’s furniture, the Kyma is upholstered with natural materials in British workshops using traditional techniques such as a dowel-jointed beech frame with jute webbing as the spring and lambswool layers for soft, natural comfort.
