Vandaag kwamen er vier leden van de werkgroep Worpse Weelde op school om met de groepen 1 t/m 5 zonnebloemen te zaaien. De zonnebloemen zijn bestemd voor het voedselbosje op de Worp èn voor in onze schooltuin. De kinderen mochten ook een potje met een pitje mee naar huis nemen. A fascinating field trip to the Design-2-Tool trade show at the Convention Center found Dragons meeting engineers, machinists and company representatives for all kinds of products and parts. We thank Design-2-Tool organizers and exhibitors for offering this incredible and informative experience. Talking to people who make all kinds of products and hidden pieces we rarely notice inspired many questions about materials and production processes. Students gained a better understanding of how things are made, marveling at an etched filter with 10,000 holes per square inch, very realistic looking 3D printed food, a super bouncy nylon-printed ball, the details achieved by CNC machining, the delicate perfection of a medical stent, large and small springs and many applications of ceramics, plastic, metal and rubber. They also appreciated a laser printing demonstration and received a laser-etched DaVinci Academy key chain for the school. Solar eclipse viewing party! About 35% of the sun was eclipsed by the moon at the peak point of the eclipse here in Campbell.
