First race of the year done. Will have to wait for results to be posted. Again, forgot to bring a watch for this (I’m sure Matt’s gonna throw a fit at me for that). Had to be a personal best though. I corrected the 2 mistakes I made last year. Plus had a ton left more in my legs, going up the last mountain, than last year. Bottom line being I made improvements, and it showed today. Now home dealing with the aftermath of having a good day at a half-marathon mountain race. Majority of my leg feels messed up. Walking is a challenge. The latest Pachamama Gravel Ride x @bike3lands - From Shop to Shop was an incredible success! With around 60 enthusiastic riders, we experienced an awesome day of pure gravel and nature. @eriiass challenged us with a 2000m elevation gain course, but the scenic landscapes and excellent terrain made every pedal stroke worthwhile. And let’s not forget the delicious food from the food truck waiting for us at the end of the route! The incredible atmosphere wrapped up with some beers and interesting conversations at the shop. A few snaps from our quick trip to Colorado Springs this weekend ☀️ Although it was short, it was jam packed with things to do! One of them was running up Barr trail, where I found some small patches of snow and decided it would be nice to sit in and ice my aching pelvis. Plus the trails were 🧈👌 I struggled with breathing at the altitude but that didn’t stop me from having fun! Maybe next time we’ll spend more time in the Springs and explore more trails - my favorite thing to do! In other news… later today I get to discuss my recent MRI results for a pelvic diagnosis (no fracture thankfully, I think?). This pain in my pelvis/pubic bone popped up after I had foot surgery and has been limiting what I’ve been able to do for a couple months. Fingers crossed its good news and things will slowly return to normal 🤞

Second half, we got cloud coverage. Found myself going a little faster. I’m able to push a more than I was at first. Final decline, back to my start/finish area, was feeling really good still. In other good news, Patch Sprint is a week from Saturday. As rough as these last 2 training days were, my race results should be a lot better. Compared to last year, my mileage at this point is way better. Day 67 of 181. 20 mile off-road long-run. First 20miler of 2024. That 10 mile r.t. route I have outside of town. Today’s plan was 2x that route. Went smoother than expected. Dreading the second time around. Especially sense I gotta do the same thing tomorrow. But that’s when training to be in the present moment came in. “Don’t worry about tomorrow. We’re living today.” Currently taking the consequences of a good day lying down. No, literally. Day 66 of 181. 10mi easy. Not even a mile in, got caught in a sun shower. Even when it wasn’t raining, had rain clouds around the whole time. Kept todays 76 degree conditions under control.
