Lasst uns einen Blick auf eine meiner Lieblingspflanzen werfen: das Echte Tausendgüldenkraut (Centaurium erythraea). 🌱 Es wird seit Jahrhunderten als Heilpflanze geschätzt und hat viele volkstümliche Namen. Allerweltsheil, Fieberkraut und Wohlverleih sind nur eine kleine Auswahl. Verwendet werden die oberirdischen Teile, die Wurzel aber nicht. 🌸 Zart und hübsch von außen, mit kleinen, meist rosafarbenen Blüten, hat dieses Pflänzchen eine überraschende Eigenschaft: Es ist unglaublich bitter! Mit einem Bitterwert von 2.000-10.000 (je nach Quelle) kommen nur wenige Pflanzen noch drüber. Zum Vergleich: Löwenzahn hat lediglich einen Bitterwert von ca. 100. 🌍 Vorkommen: Tausendgüldenkraut-Arten sind fast in ganz Europa, in Teilen Asiens und sogar Nordafrika verbreitet. In „freier Wildbahn“ habe ich es leider erst einmal in Estland gesehen. In Deutschland stehen alle vorkommenden Arten, damit natürlich auch das Echte Tausendgüldenkraut, unter Naturschutz! 🌱 Anwendungsgebiete: wie die meisten Bitterpflanzen kommt Tausendgüldenkraut überwiegend in Sachen Verdauung zum Einsatz. Bitterstoffe wirken anregend auf den Appetit, auf die Aktivität des Magen-Darm-Trakts, auf die Produktion der Verdauungssäfte (weswegen Personen mit einem Geschwür in Magen oder Darm das Kraut nicht zu sich nehmen sollten), bremsen aber gleichzeitig Heißhunger auf Süßes. Daher findet man das Tausendgüldenkraut oft in Bittertropfen, Schwedenbitter und ähnlichem. Daneben kommt es teilweise in pflanzlichen Mitteln gegen Blasenentzündung zum Einsatz (entzündungshemmend) und wirkt zudem tonisierend. Common Centaury / Flockarun / Centaurium erythraea Barsebäck, Skåne Not at all common in Sweden, so it was a thrill to discover that one of my old finds I had recorded as Seaside Centaury (C. littorale) had been visited by people who actually know what they're doing and upgraded to Common Centaury. Sure enough, this year there are plants that tick all the boxes for the rarer Common species, but there are also others with the characteristic narrow leaves of Seaside. It always feels a little like cheating to reach for the hybrid label, but in the UK these two readily hybridise where they meet, so it's possible I was fooled by an intermediate form. Das Echte Tausendgüldenkraut ist nur noch sehr selten anzutreffen, um so größer war meine Freude, es heute zu finden. Das Kräutlein gehört zu den Bitterkräutern und hier trifft besonders der Spruch zu „was bitter im Mund, ist dem Magen gesund“. Tatsächlich lindert es die Beschwerden bei Gastritis, Sodbrennen und Lebererkrankungen. Darauf deutet auch sein Name Magenkraut hin. Wie viele rotblühende Pflanzen galt das Verschreikräutel als dämonen- und hexenwidrig und sollte vor schwarzer Magie schützen. Auf aktuellen Bildern aus dem Garten gäbe es dzt. wohl nur Wegschnecken und Regenpfützen (es regnet, regnet und regnet...) zu sehen, also zeige ich lieber ein Kräutlein, das ich vorige Woche im Wald entdeckt habe, das Echte Tausendgüldenkraut. Die auch medizinisch genutzte Pflanze wächst bevorzugt auf Waldlichtungen oder auf Wiesen und wird sehr gerne von Insekten besucht. Die Blütezeit dauert bis in den Oktober hinein, die Blüten haben aber ihre Ansprüche an das Wetter: Sie öffnen sich erst ab 20° und nur bei Sonnenschein☀️ #echtestausendgüldenkraut #centauriumerythraea #heilpflanzen

My Wild Flower of the Day: Common Centaury (Centaurium erythraea) This little pink flower has been a tricky one to capture. It seems to have been flowering for months now, outlasting many a felow meadow flower. Yet, as a member of the Gentian family, its flowers close in the afternoon and when the sun shines brightly the star flowers reflect the light and dazzle. Worth waiting for my moment, however, as it's a very interesting study! Common Centaury has been used in herbal medicine for centuries. Its Latin name means "red centaur", named for Chiron, a famous centaur healer from Greek mythology. The half-man, half-horse who trained Achilles was said to have used the plant to heal a wound inflicted by the 9-headed Hydra. Centaurium erythraea Hiel de la tierra ( Por su gusto amargo, los romanos la llamaban Herba felis térrea, que significa "hierba de la bilis de la tierra"), siete sangrías, centaura menor. Su sabor es muy amargo debido a la presencia de sustancias como iridoides, flavonoides y xantonas, en su composición. Es un tónico amargo, estomático, utilizado generalmente para combatir la pérdida de apetito. Muy útil también contra la alopecia, contra los parásitos y la diarrea. Elle n’en ferait pas qu’à sa tête ? Centaurium umbellatum (ou erythraea) est peu utilisée en phytothérapie, peut-être par manque d’études cliniques, alors que dans la tradition populaire elle avait bonne presse. Echt duizendguldenkruid (Centaurium erythraea) Nog zo eentje waarvan ik altijd weer blij word als ik het terug ergens in bloei zie staan. Echt duizendguldenkruid is een plant uit de gentiaanfamilie (Gentianaceae). De soort groeit in België en Nederland op grazige, vochtige plaatsen en in bossen op zandgrond. De plantjes op de foto's staan in in een stukje gemaaide berm langs het fiets- en wandelpad doorheen het bos hier (Zoetevaart), in wat open plekjes op de zandgrond. Hopelijk blijven ze. Het zijn weliswaar pioniers die het goed doen op vochtige, verstoorde, voedselarme tot matig voedselrijke plekken, die meestal verdwijnen als de overige vegetatie (of de grasmat) dominant wordt (hier zouden dat bijvoorbeeld ook de brandnetels en bramen kunnen zijn). Door het maaien en afvoeren wordt de rand hier open gehouden - en blijven hopelijk deze mooie plantjes ook her en der in de open plekjes opduiken. In de volksgeneeskunde wordt duizendguldenkruid tegen koorts gebruikt, vandaar de oude naam 'febrifugum' en de volksnamen 'koortskruid' en 'koortsbloemen' (Frans: Herbe à la fièvre - Duits : Fieberkraut).
