Why did we create the Travel range? Hi, I'm Kim and I suffer from Complex PTSD, severe Anxiety, Depression Agoraphobia and have a history of psychosis. Every single diagnosis has caused me to struggle with something I truly love, travelling. But on my worst days, I couldn't even take the bin outside. It took me years to be able to simply take my bin out (and in) or check the mail. To this day, I still struggle to leave my home. A goal of mine is to one day look in my fridge, see that I need milk and just jump in the car to get some without a second thought or anxiety taking over. Before I got unwell, I would go to cafes and restaurants alone. I would get on a random train and explore a new suburb for the day. I have even been to concerts by myself before. Those moments are now a distant memory for me but it's also a goal I'm truly working hard on. But there were times I never thought I'd get there. What's helped? A range of things! Therapy is of course number 1, another is having supportive people to help me with exposure, and also the use of tangible items such as mental health tools like pictured here! I worked hard with our team over the past few months, spoke to our community and professionals to develop this absolutely amazing range of tools for you all. How we chose our new logo! For those who don't know how our business started, it all began because of Kim's struggle with suicide. She was going though an extremely hard time and felt alone and isolated. She watched so many others receive love in the form of quality time, physical touch, acts of service, words of affirmation and a lot of gifts. When Kim saw a quote saying that we should celebrate and support those who made it through a suicide attempt/extreme thoughts, she wondered why those with a physical illness get all this love but those with a mental illness often get forgotten about or are ignored entirely. So she bought herself a gift to reminder her of how strong she was to get through. That gift bought great pride and encouragment to Kim to keep fighting. So she thought, imagine if we had a gifting service where we could give that feeling to those who struggle with mental ill health AND give them tools and resources to help them through it? She spoke to her best friend and that's how For Your Mind Boxes was created. We recently changed our logo to reflect our business a lot more. The brain in the shape of a heart resembles our mind and our hearts and how we need love to heal our minds.
