Rating:🥈 After seeing his family being killed by the Van Der Koy Family (DOCKERY, GELMAN, JANSSEN), a boy (SKARSGARD) under the training eye of a Shaman (RUHIAN) plans to vow revenge against the powerful family. The synopsis and plot of the film is absolutely straightforward and nothing entirely new (with a few predictable tropes), yet it is the insane and over-the-top cinematic styling inspired by arcade fighter games and Japanese manga, as well as the execution of the twist in the third act, that make it feel like a breath of fresh air. This film does have an incredibly hyper random sense of humour and incredibly fast-paced yet gruesome and squirmish action scenes (one involving a cheese grater slicing skin), and depending on who you ask, it will either make or break the film. A lot of reviews I’ve read definitely said that this film wasn’t for them, and I honestly think that I’m in the minority. Skarsgard does a great job as the main lead boy. The character is deaf and mute, so he can only communicate through his facial expression in both a serious and also comedic way (like in a scene when he gets obsessed with macrons), and it did feel legitimate and not as annoying. Boy has H. Jon Benjamin (aka Archer) as his inner monologue inspired from an Arcade game, and even though it’s not entirely needed, it adds to the film’s charm and uniqueness to stand out from the standard revenge storyline. Even if the jokes didn’t always land with me, it did have enough charm, humour, and blood soaked action to keep me entertained. #filmreview

Guided by his sister's mischievous spirit, Boy uncovers one stunning revelation after another as he barrels toward Hilda." This movie is full of action and bloody scenes! The fight scenes are well-choreographed. The plot is a little bit of a stretch, with many twists and turns. The story timeline jumps around a lot... I wasn't a huge fan of that, but it eventually makes sense. Cut your brain off and enjoy the violence and hand to hand combat! There is a mid-credit scene. Boy Kills World (2024) This new action flick has a ton of cool action moments and some funny lines, but fails to really work as a whole. The film stars Bill Skarsgård, as a badass but mute man seeking revenge against the dictatorial family that killed his family and rules society with an iron fist. Skarsgård’s character is mute, but we get to hear his internal monologue, voiced by H. John Benjamin. Benjamin is the perfect voice talent to add humorous commentary during the bloody and over the top action scenes. I really like Benjamin, but the problem is that it’s essentially the same joke over and over and over again, which starts to get really old. The humor from the internal monologue and the constant interactions with a vision of his slain little sister really undercut the action. The fight choreography is pretty good is a few scenes, where the camera actually lets you see what is going on, but there are several other scenes where the editing is really choppy and shaky. The over the topness of all the fight scenes is fun though, especially the fight where he uses a cheese grater as a weapon. The plot is a bit all over the place though. For one the totalitarian dystopia is really underdeveloped. We know next to nothing about how the dictators came to power and barely see any of the evil things they do. The film also lacks any good villains, all the members of the evil family are either portrayed as stupid and incompetent for laughs or seem not even particularly interested in achieving the vague evil stuff. Also I won’t spoil it here, but the third act twist makes absolutely no sense and really undermines the story as a whole. All and all this film just comes off as a feature length silly cartoon. Like a cartoon, this film is full or enjoyable and fun moments, but the story and characters aren’t memorable. This film is definitely a bit hurt by the recent slew of one man revenge films also. El género parece estar más interesado en servir como publicidad para servicios de dobles de acción que en contar buenas historias usando dichos servicios. The Fall Guy y Monkey Man son ejemplos recientes de ello, pero ninguno lo hace peor que Boy Kills World. La cinta parece estar diseñada a modo de tarjeta de presentación para Mohr y su equipo y hay poco más allá de eso. Esta es la primera cinta de Mohr como director y se nota, no solo por la calidad de la historia que cuenta, o la ausencia de ella, pero también en el apartado técnico, en donde Mohr carece de la creatividad necesaria para sostener una cinta de acción de principio a fin, con escenas de acción que rápidamente se vuelven repetitivas y aburridas. ¿Si la acción está en ese estado, que se puede decir de la historia? Watched #boykillsworld yesterday and good golly, it was deliriously deranged. The action was heaps of fun and the story was played surprisingly very straight. Really enjoyed it. So I watched my first ever in-theater action film. MY GOD WHAT A FIRST! #boykillsworld is easily one of my favorites, right up there with John wick. This is an absolutely brutal film, you feel every punch, slice, crack, gunshot as if it were you getting pummeled. I really like the arcade video game references here and there, the film is almost like a take on one of those classic arcade beatem up games. The dialogue is incredible with the main character being a deaf mute, it really challenges @billskarsgard.offcial as an actor and he passes with flying colors. Can’t wait for #thecrow ! The story is truly something else and should not be overlooked, the twists and turns within the film are genuinely interesting and will take you off guard. At its core it is a truly sad story that’s masked behind a pool blood, sweat, and tears. And I think the story works the best this way, incredible film, can’t wait to see what #raimiproductions and #vertigoentertainment do on the next joint project.

Boy Kills World Movie Review: Boy Kills World is the film adaptation of the novel of the same name following an unmade boy (Bill Skarsgard) going on a quest of revenge to murder future dictator Hilda Van Der Koy (Famke Janssen) after she kills his sister Mina (Quinn Copeland) and mother as a child. The Moritz Mohr directed film is a consistently entertaining and energetic revenge action flick that has enough fantastic fight choreography and well timed comedic satire in its totalitarian government world to make up for its uneven story and tone that eventually finds its footing in the third act. While the first act is a bit jumbled in its presentation of the main character's transition from scared orphan child to revenge seeking warrior trained by the mean spirited shaman (Yayan Ruhian), Boy Kills World immediately brings the audience into an intriguing yet underdeveloped world that feels familiar to The Hunger Games with its plot with enough social satire to differentiate itself as well. Skarsgard is very good in the silent lead role of Boy and the silence of his character gives the opportunity for H Jon Benjamin from Bob's Burgers to have good comedic commentary as the Boy's inner voice. There is a lot of good visual style from the opening training montage where the Boy is starved and trained by the shaman to enact revenge and the story never loses a good pace as the main character moves towards his revenge as soon as van der Koy's announce the 25th annual cullen where a group of citizens are selected to be murdered by cereal mascots. This is just one of the dark jokes that are effective as Boy finds his way into infiltrating the factory where Hilda's siblings Melanie and Gideon (Michelle Dockerty and Brett Gelman) along with Melanie's TV host husband Glen (Sharlto Copley) are preparing for the Cullen ceremony while questioning why the event is still happening. The film truly works is in its blend of irreverent humor that effectively parodies the Hunger Games in its dystopian future premise and great action sequences that begin with Boy escaping the factory with resistance fighter Basho (Andrew Koji) "helping" with a weapons cart. Boy Kills World (2024 Film) 4/5 ⭐️ Boy KIlls World stars Bill Skarsgård as a man, who has been training almost his whole life to seek revenge. As a child, his mother and sister were murdered right in front of him, and he was left with a punctured ear drum and unable to speak. As an adult, he's both deaf and mute, and he's been training with a shaman learning how to fight every day so that one day he can go after the people who destroyed his family. This film is freaking wild. Part John Wick, part The Hunger Games, and so much more. There is comedy, violence, and lots of humor throughout this lean and mean 111-minute runtime. The story provides lots of twists and turns and is one of the better films that I've seen this year. Boy kills world. I was looking forward to it but i wasn't thrilled about the execution of it all when i saw the movie. When it comes to the action it's nothing we haven't seen done before and to me it even was a bit boring at times... But the bigger letdown for me was the story... it's just meh and all done before (even the killer with imaginary friend/dad/sister etc character is something we've seen before) Didn't like it, didn't absolutely hate it(it has it's moments) Sadly only 5.5/10⭐ for me #moviereview #boykillsworld
