Last night was How Many Of These Shorter, Sillier Games Can We Play In One Night night? And the answer was... 11 - not too shabby in about 4 hours. We loaded everything into the Spinny Wheel Of Destiny and mostly went with what it said (except when games couldn't play 5 players and the one time we chose 1% near the end). Here's a one line summary of each ButaBabel - Rock Paper Scissors madness - first 7 cards I drew were all paper Love Letter - classic. Did woefully, kept being guessed That's Not a Hat - more malevolent green version with odder pictures. I didn't lose Fake Artist Goes To New York - I made it too easy by doing an in-joke from Not A Hat. Me and the artist still won ChopChop - first time for everyone but me. Still came 4th - much memory choppy goodness Shenanigrams - really like this and we ended up with really quite a small set of tiles Deep Sea Adventure - pushed my luck way too much. Died way too often Cockroach Poker - once someone's got you, you're done for. Mars, Mars, Mars po raz trzeci. Nigdy nie zakładaliśmy, że zaopatrzymy się w Ekspedycję Ares od Rebel.pl, oczywiście nie ze względu na to, że to zła gra, tylko ze względu na to, że bardzo lubimy dużą TM i nie potrzebowaliśmy "mniejszego" zamiennika. A właśnie w taki sposób traktowaliśmy / traktujemy Ekspedycję Ares. Jednakowoż na fali zaintrygowania wersją kościaną, po wielkiej miłości do podstawki (jak już wspominaliśmy wyżej;)) postanowiliśmy odmienić Marsa ponownie. Jak się łatwo pewnie domyślić, wybraliśmy się w tą podróż wraz z Ekspedycją Ares ;) Hmm a gdzie tu rydwan wojny, krew i flaki? Otóż nie ma, za to jest koszmar sprzedawcy. W życiu nie naliczyliśmy tylu rabatów co w tej grze ;) Ale wyprawa trwa dalej, jeszcze wiele drzew do posadzenia, zwierząt do wyhodowania i oceanów do rozlokowania przed nami. Gdzie nas ta wycieczka zawiedzie? Czy Mars będzie się nadawał do życia? Czy Jacek zacznie używać kalkulatora do naliczania rabatów? Moin Leudde, Bei uns kam gestern Pest von @archona.games auf den Tisch. Ich hatte den Prototypen vor paar Jahren in einem frühen Stadium gesehen und muss sagen von da bis zum fertigen Spiel war es noch weit. Unser Tisch hat gerade so für das Spiel mit 3 Mitspielenden gereicht 😅 glaube eine 4 oder 5 Person hätte nicht mehr mit dem Tableau auf den Tisch gepasst. Das Material ist erstmal Okay, nichts besonderes, wobei man die Hauptstadt Mini schon als schlecht bezeichnen kann. In Pest reisen wir durch das Land und heilen erkrankte von der Pest, die wir dann in unseren Gebäuden arbeiten lassen, um ein gesichertes Einkommen für weitere Heilungen, Bauen und Reisen haben. Die Aktionsauswahl dafür finde ich sehr gelungen, es ist eine Kombination aus 2 Aktionen. Man muss sehr gut überlegen, wann man was macht, um ohne Schaden durch die Runden zu kommen. Dabei darf man die Zielkarten für jede Ära nicht aus den Augen lassen, um seinen Einfluss weiter auszubauen. Viele kleine Sachen auf die man achten sollte. Die Erstpartie hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Ich hoffe es zeitnah wieder auf den Tisch zu bekommen. El turno es tan sencillo como, colocar la pieza del corredor y hacer un mínimo de 2 movimientos con un giro obligatorio y colocar una de nuestras piezas en una espacio adyacente y vacío o con una de nuestras piezas. Since my accident a year ago, our Tigerocket household haven't been as boardgame obsessed and the games we do play don't often get posted. At first it was just hard, I had a broken foot and then spent months recovering from surgery and learning to walk unassisted again. Then our eldest decided not to join just 1 soccer team but 2. Work got increasingly hectic for @heymanryan and our social calendars got crazy busy. We found ourselves relying more and more on screen time because we were just too exhausted to do anything else in the evenings. To combat that pull, I tried to convince the family to play a unique boardgame with me consecutively but that ended pretty quickly because they just wanted to play the same game over and over again. We pivoted and now they're all on board and excited every night! We started a weekly tournament on Sunday! I've devised a simple point system to track our wins for every game we play as a family. At the end of the week, the family member with the most points get to pick a fun family activity for the weekend! Right now Rocket is gunning for some pool time so he's been super engaged. Each night, the biggest loser gets to pick the next night's game. I got destroyed playing Unstable Unicorns so I chose Planet by @blueorangegames. It's such an underrated game! I so love the mechanism and cute magnetic earth. It ranks highly as one of my all-time favorite games. Definitely one of the best family games. I'm so glad our kids have been enjoying the tournament. The Castles of Tuscany by @ravensburgerglobal is essentially the little sibling of Castles of Burgundy and as such some comparison is unavoidable. We’ll try not to make this the main focus of this review but some mentions will be made for sure. Gameplay Overview In Castles of Tuscany players take on the roles of princes in 15th century Tuscany, trying to build the most influential region within their land. They will be building villages, towns, monasteries and castles and they will also make sure there are enough supplies for the region to flourish through the use of quarries and agriculture. In the end, the owner of the best constructed region will be the winner. In practice, each player starts the game with their own unique region, a hexagon grid for tiles to be placed on. During the game players will take turns drafting tiles, placing them in their region and collecting bonuses depending on the type of tile they just placed. In order to place a tile, players will have to play a pair of cards from their hand, matching the color of the tile. Alternatively, a pair of matching cards can replace a single card of any other color and workers can also replace any card during this process. The game is split into 3 phases and points earnt during the 1st phase will be scored three times by the end of the game, points for the 2nd phase will be scored twice and points from the last phase will only be scored once. Naturally, doing things fast is beneficial but not always easy. Points can be gained mainly be filling areas in your region but there are other ways to gain points as well, like placing agriculture tiles, gaining certain yield cards or taking a specific bonus tile. Together with some minor final scoring, each player calculates their total points and whoever is ahead wins the game. Components Castles of Tuscany has some decent components but nothing too impressive. So far, we haven’t seen any wear and tear on the tiles or the cards, but overall it’s exactly what’s needed to play the game, not more, not less. (Part 2 in the comments)

Dès cet instant, chaque joueur doit faire preuve de ruse et de stratégie, à l'image d'un guerrier viking, en suivant des règles aussi strictes que leur code d'honneur : déposer une combinaison de cartes d'une force supérieure à celle déjà en jeu. Toutefois, sa combinaison ne peut être que d'un nombre de cartes équivalent ou d'une seule carte de plus que le joueur précédent. Après avoir joué sa combinaison, le joueur doit récupérer une carte précédemment posée par l'adversaire, ajoutant ainsi un dilemme intéressant. Que récupérer pour la prochaine bataille ? Lorsqu’un joueur valeureux vide sa main, la manche s'achève. Les autres comptent leurs cartes restantes comme un drakkar compte ses boucliers : chaque carte non jouée marquant leur potentielle défaite. La fin de partie est déclarée selon un score décidé en début de jeu, fixant une limite épique à ce tournoi. Le cœur du jeu réside dans des décisions qui ne pardonnent aucune erreur. La campagne introduit l’histoire unique écrite par Krzysztof Piskorski (Tainted Grail), pleine de choix difficiles, de rebondissements et d’embranchements. Le jeu comprend plus de 100 membres d’équipage différents, chacun ayant des caractéristiques uniques. Le jeu est divisé en 2 étapes principales : La phase du vaisseau et l’atterrissage sur les planètes. Pendant la phase du vaisseau, les joueurs gèrent leur vaisseau (classeur avec des pochettes imprimées), où chaque section doit prendre des décisions de jeu. Ensuite, vous préparerez votre équipage à atterrir sur la planète suivante, à la recherche de réponses aux plus grandes questions de l’humanité. Ensemble, vous choisirez l’atterrisseur et le personnaliserez avec des modules, puis chaque section choisira un membre d’équipage pour une mission (les membres d’équipage plus expérimentés auront de meilleurs rangs), construira un jeu de compétences, prendra de l’équipement et choisira des dés pour chaque personnage. Suite et fin de cette petite battle des familles : Nucleum VS Darwin's Journey (DJ) ! ⚡ Aujourd'hui, on fait un petit comparatif point par point et je vous donne mon verdict ! ⬇️ 🔹Accessibilité : tous les 2 très riches, mais le + facile à prendre en main est incontestablement DJ ! Pourquoi ? Plus classique, et plus intuitif selon moi. 🔹 Direction artistique : sans le moindre doute, ma préférence va à DJ. J'aime énormément son illustrateur : Paolo Voto. Ceci dit, je tiens à dire que j'apprecie les 52 nuances de caca d'oie de Nucleum.🤭 🔹 Rejouabilité : Elle me semble infinie pour Nucleum. Un peu moins pour DJ. L'asymétrie, plus forte dans Nucleum, et le fait que tout soit à construire, rend chaque partie vraiment unique. 🔹 Extensions : celle de DJ sublime le jeu, le rend plus riche, un peu plus punitif, et ajoute une touche d'aléatoire et de rejouabilité fortement appréciée. Celle de Nucleum ne change vraiment pas grand chose. Totalement dispensable à mon sens. Ses quelques ajouts nous facilitent la tâche et ce n'est pas ce que j'attends d'une extension. 🔹 Interaction : très différente dans les 2 cas mais à peu près équivalente selon moi. Dans DJ, on se gêne comme dans tout bon placement d'ouvriers bien serré, et il y a des majorités importantes. Dans Nucleum, c'est plutôt l'inverse, on essaye de tirer bénéfices du travail des autres : L'interaction est "positive". ➡️ Et si l'on finissait par comparer la seule chose qui pourrait faire pencher la balance ? Le PLAISIR ! Et bien, je vais vous décevoir, mais je crois que je kiffe autant sur l'un que sur l'autre. Dois-je déclarer une parfaite égalité ? Admettre que le dilemme est trop compliqué et refuser de hiérarchiser l'amour que je porte à ces deux jeux ? Que nenni ! Dans la vie, il y a des gagnants, et des perdants. Et si tu n'as pas compris cela, tu seras toujours le perdant (oui, je dis n'importe quoi, mais laissez moi rendre ce post un peu plus épique ! 😁) Alors... La réponse en commentaire ! ⬇️
