I think I like living. At least for the most part. I haven’t ever considered dying Even when I’ve been pushed Against a wall. There’s a finality to it From which there’s no Coming back That I don’t quite like. You go there And then there’s no Watching the bougainvillea dance in sunlight Or feeling the wind on your face. Healing hugs can’t be received And heart moving words can’t be read. Neither can you hear the waves Crashing against the shore Nor can you lie down dazed, under an Old tree covering the blue sky. You can’t even feel that lightness You get after crying your heart out. It’ll be unfair, the moon will miss your company And the night sky’s stars will be abandoned. No. I don’t think This is for me. Being stuck between couples in conflict is tricky Like with my friends - they invited me over For lunch but The quiet aggression between them Was palpable I tried to cut the tension After we sat to eat Through conversations That circled around everything From ants and cricket, To love and intimacy.
