Nowadays, approaching 91- years- young and still full of life, her health issues have slowed her down physically. Poor balance and loss of muscle strength have affected her mobility. After being encouraged by a walking buddy to seek support, Anne met Feros Care Exercise Physiologist, Danielle. It will provide better face-to-face access for approximately 30% of our participants, people with disability, and the community. .. Curve balls, energy shift, retrograde, I don't know what, but man what a ride these last 7 days have been. A cold, migraines, severe knee pain, then my beautiful son had a seizure on Easter morning, all in a week. What has it taught me? To be still, to connect with my God more than ever, to go within, to look for the triggers, to look at what is happening within me and around me, my energy and my being. I am a Carer... there! Those words are wrong. I have identified, ID'd myself with that word for so many years now, it has become heavy, too much for me to carry. I am more than this. I am all of me, I am me. I do not need to identify as anything or anyone (I am not talking about gender here) or my role in society. I believe I don't need a role, an ID, my purpose here is to serve humanity with love and grace. I pray for this everyday. Why do we always ask people 'so, what do you do?', from now on my answer will be 'me', 'I do me'. Why does it matter if another knows what we do, why does it matter to have a title, an ID? Validation I guess. I am me and that is enough. I am me, different versions of me, a million times a day. I am still learning, working towards the better version of me, not for anyone else, but me, to allow God to work through me. And that is enough. But, you know, she’s got this old soul about her. We can chat for hours, over dinner or a cuppa, and it’s just wonderful. I’m so blessed to have her in my life,” said Mirella. Not many people can say they’ve ‘worked’ with the same person for over 15 years, but Marion Fleming can. And what’s more, she’s never looked back ❤️️ “The first day I arrived at Daisy’s house to help with some domestic cleaning, she was 80 and still out there cutting the cane by hand to feed the cattle. I thought, ‘that’s one remarkable woman.’" In this instance, first impressions were right on the money. Even with health and mobility issues, Daisy still rides her beloved quad bike around the farm to this very day, and continues to surprise Marion with her zest for life. “Daisy is amazing in every way. Nothing stops her. Her motto is ‘as long as I can, I will’. I loved that so much that I wrote it down and stuck it on my fridge,” she says." “Daisy told me that I can’t leave until she dies. Both 88, almost 90. One still drives and is hanging on strong to her independence. The other fading, slowly losing her hold. Grasping onto the things that she still can do. I feel for them both. I will remember their stories, their history of suffering, as children they both experienced war, both lost their fathers very young. Both their mothers young widows, doing the best they can, to provide food, and survival, through hard times, war. These generations of women, warriors. They rarely talk about the war time which is a part of their make up. Amazing women just getting on with their life, as their mothers did, doing the best they can.
