Krásny a intenzívny rumík z dnes už neexistujúcej guyanskej destilérie Uitvlugt. Destilácia prebehla v roku 1989 za pomoci dreveného kotla s názvom Port Mourant, ktorý je posledným svojho druhu na svete. Zrenie trvalo 32 rokov v sude po whisky, plnenie do fliaš prebehlo v sudovej sile 64,1% alkoholu. 💪 Celkový počet fliaš, ktoré sud naplnil bolo 222. Vôňa: Káva, drevo, kakao, jablkový koláč so škoricou. Zelené hrušky a javorový sirup. Chuť: Plná, intenzívna, hutná. Korenie, drevo, sladké drievko. Some pleasant polished wood, cinnamon, liquorice and wax. Then also honeyed notes and olives in brine. There’s a lot going on, but overall it shows great roundness. Mouth: quite dry, with plenty of citrus notes and leather, as well as briney notes, dried grasses and hints of tar. A lot of medicinal herbs too. Then salted caramel, hints of vanilla and roasted pineapples. Hints of iodine and camphor, pepper and orange peels. Still really good. Finish: medium long, with more of these earthy herbs, drops of bitters and some tarry smoke. A rewarding Bellevue with a fairly mild funkiness but a firm medicinal side on the palate. I like this style as it leaves enough room for all flavours to unfold their complexity. 【The Colours of Rum 巡台品酒會20231107台北場活動紀錄】 The Colours of Rum 團隊昨天來到了台北，在擁有眾多收藏的蘭姆酒酒吧 OLE Rum Bar and Tapas 舉行了巡台最後一場的品酒會。 這次品酒會，品牌大使 Magdalena Reszke 用比較輕快的步調來與大家分享蘭姆酒的歷史與簡單製程，接著從巴貝多 Foursquare 酒廠出發，告訴大家逛這間酒廠要找哪個 keyman 就可以住在酒廠裡的民宿小屋，看著酒廠各處都標示清楚的告示牌，清楚到連發酵槽前的牌子都寫發酵時間與溫度。接連從牙買加的 Long Pond 那面從大火中移留下的那面牆，轉移到有著歷史上僅存幾座「古蹟蒸餾器」的圭亞那，曾經 Demerara 河鄰近高達44家，現在只剩1家 Diamond 酒廠裡頭擁有眾多關廠酒廠的蒸餾器，而這次品飲的 Uitvlugt 就是其中一家。 再來就是來到瓜地洛普最大的酒廠 Bellevue，這天品飲的酒款是品牌大使很喜歡的其中一瓶，同時也是這場酒友票選出最喜歡的酒款！於是很多酒友活動結束還在詢問是否能買得到，可惜早已完售許久了。最後我們又回到了牙買加的 Clarendon 酒廠與 Hampden 酒廠，看著牙買加蘭姆酒廠充滿歷史痕跡，以及那極具獨特的 dunder 跟 muck 槽原來是這個樣子，在較為溫柔的酯類果香中完成了這場品酒會。 讓這場精彩的品酒會更加印象深刻的就是 OLE Rum Bar and Tapas 主理人們買了The Colours of Rum Impressions Caroni 25Yo 這瓶並且直接現場打開讓現場參與的酒友以極度優惠的單杯價喝到這款酒，既然都開了當然要趕快湊過去聞香一下，剛入杯中散發甜蜜的花蜜香，接著幾分鐘後出現微微的煙燻、皮革與木質感，真的是款層次感非常豐富的 Caroni 啊！！ 非常感謝 The Colours of Rum 團隊 這趟來台行程與艾雷重擊一起參與了兩場巡台品酒會跟 Whisky Fest TAKAO 高雄威士忌嘉年華，期待下一次他們的到來，也希望到時候有更多蘭姆酒愛好者！ ‼️找代駕，保平安‼️ 🔞未成年請勿飲酒🔞 🚫開車不喝酒，喝酒不開車🚫 #艾雷重擊 #thecoloursofrum #rum #品酒會

【The Colours of Rum 巡台品酒會20231102台南場活動紀錄】 【艾雷重擊品牌概念店】品酒會活動就在昨晚由遠從波蘭來台的 The Colours of Rum 團隊開啟序幕了！品牌大使 Magdalena Reszke 與大家分享這個品牌的母公司 Wealth Solutions 在2007年成立，於2020年開始專注於蘭姆酒市場，成立了這個以蘭姆酒為主的選桶品牌，一開始取名 The Colours of Rum 原本是想要用每個國家的國旗顏色來做酒標，但發現好像顏色不太夠用，所以才開始新增了其他顏色作為酒標。 Magdalena Reszke 與台南場的酒友們分享她與 The Colours of Rum 團隊一同前往不同蒸餾廠的照片，從最早有文獻記載蘭姆酒誕生的巴貝多作為起點，喝著優雅細緻的 Foursquare，再一路前往牙買加的 Long Pond，分享從大火重創後新建的蒸餾室以及留有歷史痕跡的那面牆的照片，接著讓我們將畫面轉向擁有眾多關廠蒸餾器圭亞那 Diamond 酒廠，在裡面我們看到了除了已關廠的 Uitvlugt 蒸餾器外，還有 Versailles、Enmore 和 Port Mourant 蒸餾器。 畫面再轉往瓜地洛普最大的酒廠 Bellevue，可以看到酒廠裡面設備塗滿了許多顏色，並且聊到瓜地洛普和馬丁尼克兩個國家蘭姆酒GI的些微不同之處，最後又再回到了牙買加喝果香感豐富的 Clarendon 酒廠與高酯類代表 Hampden 酒廠，大家也看到很珍貴的 dunder 錄影片段，而 Hampden 也是昨晚大家最喜歡的酒款，看起來酒友們越來越能適應高酯的特殊風味了！ 非常感謝 The Colours of Rum 分享這麼多他們前往酒廠的照片與影片紀錄讓大家開了眼界，接下來就會前往台北舉辦品酒會了，台北的酒友們，準備與他們相見了！ ‼️找代駕，保平安‼️ 🔞未成年請勿飲酒🔞 🚫開車不喝酒，喝酒不開車🚫 #艾雷重擊 #thecoloursofrum #品酒會 #rum #蘭姆酒

Nose: new scuba diving suit (isn't Christmas around the corner), balsamico, olives, pickled gherkins, carbon, new tyres, acetone… etc. With water: more acetone, nail polish remover, glue, tarry ropes ala Ardbeg, also dried rambutans and longans, which is very specific… Mouth (neat): superlative, immense, tarry, salty, briney, even a tad 'burnt', as in 'burnt tyres'. Perhaps a wee cup of onion soup? Some sweet chilli mix too. With water: good fun, the dried longans and rambutans are back. This one is very sensitive to H2O, the lower you go down the degrees, the sweeter it gets, which is not common either. Finish: long, acetic, sweet as well. Sweet tar, even orange liqueur and then a medicinal side in the aftertaste. Comments: I think I liked last week's HD even better, for it was drier and saltier, as far as I can remember. I doubt that would be the extra 2 years, it's possibly the cognac wood. Other than that, this is as perfect, briney, with this petroly side, linoleum, fresh-sawn plywood, cedarwood, soft spearmint… With water: seawater and those tarry ropes. Shall we mention Bowmore again? Mouth (neat): these Uitvlugts are really excellent, even if this one's got an unexpected fizzy side, a feeling of ginger tonic perhaps… But this blend of bouillon with varnish and salted lemon juice just does it. With water: tar, petrol, olives, lemon and tinned sardines. Finish: long, bright, on tar and lemon. Salty aftertaste and even some oyster. Olives, gherkins, tar, liquorice, gauze, grapefruit skins, kerosene… With water: metal polish, putty, carbolineum, ultra-ripe bananas. Mouth (neat): very extraordinarily medicinal (did I make my point?) Stupendous camphors, eucalyptus, tars and liquorice. Drop of brine, drop of lemon juice, perfecto. With water: don't add any water to these rums. In this very case, just a few drops of Vittel unleashed a hoard of strawberries. It's not that I'm against strawberries, but in my rum, no thanks. Having said that, this is common in peated whiskies too. Finish: long, with more citrus and earth. Comments: what I've learnt, fully empirically, is that rums are much harder to reduce correctly than whiskies. But rum with Vitamin C, who would complain? With water: light earthiness, putty, marzipan, touch of linoleum perhaps… Mouth (neat): not the first time that I'm finding an agricole side to a Foursquare. Orange cake, cane honey, maple syrup, rosehip tea, these touches of varnish and lemon juice that we always enjoy… With water: stays the same, gets just easier – not that it was difficult before. Finish: medium, on orange blossom madeleines and scones, and indeed orange juice. Soft aftertaste. Comments: particularly excellent at just 11. Now since years in the tropics are tripled, that would actually be (3*5)+6 = 21 years. Enmore and Uitvlugt are two closed rum distilleries from Guayana that we’ve never tasted from before. In our tasting next week we will get to sample from them for the first time, and learn about what makes them different. Shown here with a bottle from the still-open Diamond distillery, a staple Caribbean rum producer. When Enmore closed in 1993, it’s unique wooden (!!) column still was moved over to Diamond and is still in use today. The only other wooden still in the world was used at Uitvlugt distillery, and it was transferred to Diamond as well when Uitvlugt closed down in 2000. The wooden still at Uitvlugt is more than 250 years old, making it one of the oldest still-running stills in the world.
