The site of the famous Edvard Munch painting “The Scream” is within this park. It is an overlook on the side of a road called “Valhallveien” on a hill above Oslo. This hill is known as Ekeberg Hill (Ekeberg being a neighborhood of Oslo just south of the city). So they set up a frame so we could recreate the painting (I tried). I'm currently staying in Korea after my mother passed away. I'm planning to return to Dallas at the end of May. During my time here, I've been able to clarify my artistic direction. My mother died of a long-term cancer battle before she passed, leaving behind pictures with her grandchildren in pain rather than beautiful appearance. As I organize my mother's photos, I want to draw pictures of people who like my mother are suffering, but portray them with their families in their healthiest moments, reminiscent of their most beautiful times. Once the concrete has cooled, I carefully remove the plaster to reveal the sculpture underneath. It's a meticulous process because all the plaster has to be washed off, both inside and out. After sandblasting away the last remnants, I sand down any uneven areas and casting channels to ensure a smooth finish. This attention to detail is crucial to bringing the sculpture to life, even if it takes time and effort. In the end, it's always worth it to see the final piece emerge in all its beauty. I adjusted the positioning and other details to aim for ① to stand on its own and ② to be able to be disassembled and reassembled. I temporarily attached the other parts with masking tape. I thought I really needed a carpet in my atelier after watching a Ben Harper live video a long time ago. This is what Mongo bought for me.
