On this date in 2021, retired Colonel Ralph Puckett Jr. was awarded the Medal of Honor from President Joe Biden for his actions in the Korean War. On November 25, 1950, Puckett and his company captured Hill 205, a strategic point overlooking the Chongchon River, as part of the Battle of the Ch’ongch’on River. Puckett led the Rangers during the attack, shouted words of encouragement and got supporting fire from the closest tank. When a platoon was pinned down, he ran across an open area three times to draw enemy fire, which allowed the Rangers to locate and destroy the enemy positions and to seize Hill 205. After capturing the hill, the Ranger company was over a mile from the nearest friendly unit. Puckett coordinated artillery support prior to the Chinese counterattack. At 10pm, the Chinese began their attack by firing a mortar salvo against the Rangers. Six waves of Chinese forces assaulted the hill, with the first five waves attacking the hill for four hours. The Rangers were outnumbered 10-to-1. Several times, Puckett was forced to call in “danger close” artillery fire. During the sixth assault, the Rangers were overrun in hand-to-hand combat. There was a lack of artillery support due to Chinese attacks throughout the American lines. Puckett, who had previously suffered a thigh wound, incurred several wounds to his feet, buttocks, and an arm when two mortars landed in his fox hole. After his wounds immobilized him, Puckett ordered his Rangers to leave him behind and abandon the position. Two of the Rangers, David Pollock and Billy Walls, ignored his orders, shot three Chinese soldiers who were yards from Puckett’s fox hole, and evacuated Puckett from the hill. After he was evacuated, Puckett was able to call for artillery fire to hit the hill. He was hospitalized for 11 months due to the wounds he suffered that night. Puckett was initially awarded a Distinguished Service Cross before it was upgraded to a Medal of Honor three years ago today. This variable dividend is 12% of NAV. Since I don't have any direct health care stocks, this gives me exposure to the sector with a healthy dividend. This is Technician Fourth Grade Ulysses G. "Blackie" Auger. Ranger Ulysses G. “Blackie” Auger was inducted into the Ranger Hall of Fame in 2005 in recognition of his heroic service during World War II with the 4th Ranger Battalion in Sicily and the Italian peninsula and, thereafter, his outstanding leadership, exemplary character, and exceptional achievements in business. After basic training and radio school, Auger shipped out to North Africa. Responding to a call from Colonel Darby for volunteers to reconstitute the 1st, 3rd, and 4th Ranger Battalions, Auger completed Ranger training and, in July 1943, embarked in a thirty-man assault boat in the first wave of the invasion into Sicily. The 1st and 4th Ranger Battalions overcame entrenched forces and withering fire to disable the enemy coastal batteries. They also repelled attacks by Italian tanks and the formidable Hermann Goering Division, gaining control of Licata and Gela. The Fourth then led the attack into Maiori, the right flank of the invasion at Salerno, and secured the beaches to allow the 1st and 4th Battalions into Chiunzi Pass overlooking the main Naple-Salerno road. They secured the towns and the coast road and overcame fierce attacks by superior enemy forces to join the 1st and 4th Battalions in gaining Naples. Severely wounded during the terrible winter campaign at Venafro, Auger came home to Walter Reed to recuperate and for separation from service. For his conspicuous bravery, he earned the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, and the European Theater Medal with three Battle Stars. Upon returning, Auger made an indelible mark as a businessman and entrepreneur in Washington, DC. He became a leading icon in a city of icons by growing a hot dog stand into the renowned & very successful restaurant, “Blackie’s House of Beef,” where he counted Presidents and politicians, locals, and tourists, among his loyal clientele. That restaurant eventually spun off nine more. He opened the elegant Black Russian restaurant in 1966 in the basement of the D.C. I got the biggest surprise two weeks ago when I got a phone call from @sas.lions saying I was being given the Howard and Mary Morrison Civic Leadership Award! These amazing seniors did a project on @knot_lucky_veteran_fishing and once they heard everything we have done for vets they put us in for the award without me knowing! They are also putting up a sign in their gym for Knot Lucky with a QR code so people will be able to know who we are and what we do! Thank you so much guys. Happy National Pet Rescue Day to these 3 fur-babies of ours. Sunny (Aka Sun Bun Cocoa)- the puppy we adopted after our Kiko passed away. The dog that reminded us of Kiko the second we saw her, and then adopted her. She is for sure our angel. She is perfect in every way. 😇 George (Named after Kiko- aka “George Clooney” with his salt and pepper coat) - Luke’s boy. He was picked out of a large puppy bunch because of his “tan beret”. I’ve never seen a dog so loyal or loving to his owner. I don’t know who rescued who here. #RLTW 🇺🇸 Ricky (Ricky Bobby- Rick Ross)- Our trouble maker- the only dog who sneaks onto our Restoration Hardware Furniture thinking “what’s the big deal?”. He keeps us on our toes and completed our rescue fur fam. My heart and soul, the baby child 🥰. Rescues are my favorite breed 💕🩵🩵.

FULFILLMENT = SERVICE. The world is full of all sorts of ways you can exchange your time for. It’s unfortunate so many people exchange their time here for a life they don’t even want. They age miserable, letting Father Time completely hijack their chances to find what makes them truly feel complete. These people will go through their whole life never finding true happiness and fulfillment. Even people who achieve a high level of “success”. They get there and feel empty inside. They got the achievement but not the feeling they wanted. So sad. Interestingly enough there really is just a handful of things that will make you the most happy and fulfilled in life… things that are worth exchanging your time for. Some of them are: 1. Investing in yourself and being proud of YOU. 2. Serving your people by helping them grow and win. 3. Investing in your people & helping them build the best them. In order to feel these three things you have to give up to get. You’re going to have to give up the path you’re familiar with and travel down the road of uncertainty. It’s down the unfamiliar path that you will find a life worth trading your time for. Embrace the challenge of leaving your comfort zone and you’ll find even more than fulfillment.
