It really couldn’t be easier … you send them handmade cards (there are a few guidelines - check their website at CardsForHospitalizedKids.com) and they’ll mail them to kiddos who need some love in hospitals and Ronald McDonald Houses all over America. This past Friday, I had the pleasure of watching and being a part of the graduation ceremony for the mini PreSport yogis at Lehigh Valley Sports Turf! [Check out the graduates showing off their lion’s breath!🦁] I’m so grateful to have worked with this program for the past three years and look forward to continuing our weekly yoga lessons during the 2024-2025 school year! 🧘🏻♀️ Throughout our lessons, students spent time learning about feelings, friendship, confidence, teamwork, calming the mind and body, staying healthy, and the importance of rest. Preschool Yoga is a lively session, where we sing, dance, enjoy a story, sensory play, explore meditation, learn about a theme, learn breathing techniques and learn about mantras. One week we could be learning about Artic Animals and enjoying some bubble sensory play and another week we could be on the beach with our parachute! One of my favorite things to do is to set up a trail for the kids to walk on - I’ll use the balance beam, yoga blocks, the stepping buckets ... anything I can find that they can step on to practice their focus, balance, and mindful walking. 🙏🏼 And the kids love it - they beg me to crank up the dance music and then pretend they’re in a gameshow where the floor is lava. 🤗 • (Links to where I bought a lot of the things we use are in the link in my profile at @justforkidsyoga ... click and scroll down to “Products I Use”.)

We celebrated Bees today with our Yoga in preschool and the children were super bees, we polonated lots of flowers and made some yummy honey. Our Asanas were our bees, flowers, trees and our flying poses. We had great fun taking turns to be the bee. We did some great Bee breathing and we could hear what the humming would sound like in the hive when we all did it together and then held our hands on our ears so we could feel our breaths inside our bodys and hear them inside also. We did the Bumble bee action song and had a lovely story massage about Buzzy the Bee. Afterwards we had a lovely relaxation. 🌟Day 4: Mental Health Awareness Week: DIY Windmill I'm a big fan of a windmill! Not only are they a beautiful addition to your garden but they can be used to show children how their breath "moves" , in meditation, a calm down tool or sensory toy. The plastic kind are showing up everywhere at the moment like at garden centre and The Works! But if you fancy a little craft activity this weekend you can make your own too! You need: 🌈Coloured paper (avoid card) 🌈A glue stick 🌈Pipe cleaner 🌈 A straw 🌈Scissors 🌈Pens (optional) First make a sqaure out of your paper by folding a corner down and making a mark where the paper reaches the side, then snip of the rectangle shape you don't need. I haven't done this on mine but now is the time to decorate your square! Use whatever you like just avoid heavy craft items. Next from each corner, cut into the centre of the square leaving about an inch. If you cut too close to the centre you're windmill won't stay together very well Now your square should have 4 flaps. Next glue ONE corner of each flap into the centre. You need to make sure this is nice and stuck down for the next step *Adult supervision* now cut or use something sharp like a kebab stick to make a small hole in the centre Thread your pipe cleaner through the hole. Securing the front of the windmill and twisting a small part of the pipe cleaner into a little knot Thread your pipe cleaner onto a straw And enjoy!! Carrying mats isn't my favorite either, especially with groups of 60 preschoolers! Buy some lavender flowers (mine were £3 from ebay) or pick some from your garden if your lucky🌸 Their lovely colour and scent can be used in playdough, oats, water, rice or pasta play. Just mix it all in a container or tray, add some tools or yogurt pots and get mixing!! 🟣Lavender is well known for it's calming qualities and used in night sprays, with meditation oils and massages and did you know calms your nervous system and improves your mood? Personally for me it makes me really sleepy and ready for bed! 🌟Day 2: Mental Health Awareness Week: Spa box This activity I catered to the items I had already or wanted to introduce new ones that I thought would be a nice little quiet-time activity for me and my daughter. Setting up objects like this in a basket or tray doesn't only keep them contained but it brings the essence of a 'topic', something new and special to explore. My daughter already had the meditation barbie and books, but I added some of my own things like moisturiser and hair cream. Again only use what you know your child might enjoy or doesn't have an allergy too. I had it in mind that we would create a spa afternoon. So I would make us some caffeine free tea, some Cucumber and hummus snacks maybe, and we would use the items in the tray together. Maybe do each others nails, make some lemon water, read a nice book. Just remember not to put too much pressure on talking or doing anything in particular. Sit in silence or play some calming music. My daughter personally loved this and played with it for ages! She also wanted to save the water so her daddy could have a turn when he came home from work🤪 We loved going on a sunny walk to pick the small flowers and then used them in this calming activity. It was like 2 for 1! New classes coming soon to The Nest - Hinckley Starting 12th June, we have Preschool Yoga and Baby Massage! Preschool Yoga is suitable for Children aged 18 months to 7 years. Preschool Yoga is a lively session, where we sing, dance, enjoy a story, sensory play, explore meditation, learn about a theme, learn breathing techniques and learn about mantras. One week we could be learning about Artic Animals and enjoying some bubble sensory play and another week we could be on the beach with our parachute! Worry Stones! ❤️ The kids made their Worry Stones from clay (I baked them to harden them), and the idea is for the kids to rub them when they feel anxious to calm themselves down. The Worry Stones are small and lightweight ... perfect for them to slip in their pockets, keep in their backpacks, store in their desks at school, or carry in mom’s purse.
