I think there is a huge stigma around serving Christ, whether in full time ministry or even as a church lay person! The stigma is that if I choose Christ, then I am meant to suffer!! If I choose Christ I won’t have ________!! I won’t get to do _______!! And in turn we are producing generations that are “me-centric” and are keeping Christ as a “good luck charm”!! Paul said that he would give all he had to win Christ!! Many would look at Paul or other martyrs as wasted lives and fruitless living!! But this verse in Psalms is 🤯. David says, “I have been young and am now old”…… I’ve lived a long long life!! “Yet have in it seen the righteous forsaken, not his seed begging bread!” When we choose Christ, He cares for the needs that we have!! He may not care for them like we think it should happen, but our needs will be cared for!! Paul had the thorn in the flesh, and asked three times to have it removed. God said, My grace is sufficient!! The verse doesn’t say that everything will be done according to my plan!!! He is demonstrating that it’s not behavior modification but heart transformation. Jesus sums up how this happens here: “But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.” Luke 12:31. Seek and see Him; look away from the world, its shiny, sparkling enticements; look away from other people, their accolades or lack thereof; look away from self, and look to Jesus. * He goes on to speak our verse for today👆🏾Luke 12:32. What a powerful time of baptism at church today! There’s something about baptisms that makes me emotional 🥲 it makes me cry and feel joyful at the same time. As I sat there today it reminded me of my journey with the Lord Growing up in church and my Nan making sure I went to Sunday school at COGOP every Sunday built up a firm foundation within me and my love for God but at around 16 I stopped going to church, I became a young mum at 18, going to college and working, having my own place and I had my 2nd son at 21. It was hard and I made some stupid decisions and life was really beating me up! My hairdresser at the time while doing my hair was always encouraging me to come to her Bible study/fellowship group and I started going in 2008, I gave my life to Christ and got baptised in 2009 at Ashburnham it was the best decision I ever made. I got married in 2010 and there were still troubles and trials in my journey but I wasn’t on my own anymore God was with me every step of the way and I was now leaning on him and not on my own understanding.
