Lifetime half marathon #313 (@abetterworldrunning Fun in the Sun Half) is in the books! ✅ The weather started off cool and overcast at 63°, but it warmed up by the 2nd loop and I quickly shedded off my light running jacket. 10 YEARS!!!! 🎉 10 years of running every single day! No matter what. Through sickness (although thankfully I haven’t had any terrible illness), rain or shine or hurricane (🌀 yep), in parking lots and airport terminals, multiple kinds of treadmills while traveling. No matter what. I got in at least 1 mile every single day. 🙌🏻 And I’m so grateful that I can do this. 🥹 I’m so thankful my body still lets me run (because I’m getting older and things don’t work as well anymore 🤣). Here’s to another 10 years (hopefully)!!! 🙏🏻 I decided not only did I want my mileage to add up to 10 but that I wanted to run a 10K for 10 years! 🏃🏻♀️ So that’s what I set out to do. It was 75° when I started (even though I started early). 😳🥵 It got hotter and harder with each mile. But I did it!! 6.22 miles (6+2+2=10) done for 10 years of run streaking!!! 🥳 When I finished I sent a text to my hubby letting him know I did it. He asked, “What are you going to do now?” I said, “Drink my coffee!” 😆☕️ He said, “Wrong answer” and sent me a meme that said, “I’m going to Disney World!” ❤️🏰✨🤣 He’s not wrong! Well this morning has been quite interesting! 🤔 I woke up like normal and got ready to run. But then I discovered a tick in between my toes! 😳 Yes, a tick!!! So I had to wake up my Eagle Scout son and have him pull the tick off me. So that was fun! (I took a picture but I’m not including it in case people don’t want to see! 🤣) I finally got out to run though. I ran 1.56 miles! 🏃🏻♀️ And then a short walk afterwards. And on my walk I saw a snake! 🐍 He was brown and about 12 inches long. According to Wikipedia he was a non-venomous brown snake. So it’s been a morning of critters! I sure am glad I got my run done when I did this morning! Because now we are under severe thunderstorms. ⛈️⚡️ I saw clouds when I headed outside but the radar didn’t show rain until 10am. It was humid and windy (14mph). 🌬️ But I got in 1.55 miles! 🏃🏻♀️ I even got my cool down walk in! I was stretching in my driveway and heard thunder. A few minutes later there was more thunder and a pop of lightning. 😳 I headed inside quick! Now it’s pouring so hard! And it’s so dark out there! Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms!! 💐🩷💜 Being a mom has been the best thing in my entire life! Lifetime half marathon #312 (the @vacationraces Yosemite Half) is in the books! ✅ This was my 5th time doing this race (and 3rd time pacing with @beastpacing). I was one of the 3:30 pacers and I got to pace with my friend Jessica. ❤️😊 • Due to shuttle issues, we did wave starts with pace teams taking off every 20-30 minutes. We started around 8:10 AM, which allowed me to see lots of friends before, during, and after the race. #Latepost from 5/5/24: Lifetime half marathon #311 is in the books! ✅ The @runrevel White Mountains Half was my primary race of this trip. Although NH is a repeat state, I love the Revel races and I wanted to try this new course. I had no goals other than to finish, but it would have been nice to have had a good race. Unfortunately I was a bit dizzy and lightheaded (possible altitude sickness?) and I was having GI issues again, so I ended up walking most of this race. ☹️ • The course was beautiful with rivers flowing through the woods, but it wasn’t a steep downhill course like most Revel races are. There was a lot of rolling hills and flat portions, so it wasn’t a fast race. I was a bit disappointed after running several other Revel races because I was hoping for a faster finish time, but that wasn’t in the cards. I was still happy to do this race because it allowed me to see a lot of friends from all over the country (several whom I hadn’t seen in years). I also got to do a little sightseeing and see some covered bridges in the area. It’s been so hot but this morning it feels amazing!!! It’s the grand finale…Favorite Princess Friday!!! 🩷✨👑 And today’s the day… it’s @disneyrunrepeat ‘s birthday!!! 🥳 Aurora is my favorite princess and has been since I was a little girl! 🥰 So of course I had to represent her today! 💖 I love how @rawthreadsathletics put her silhouette on the back of this tank! It’s Punzie Pitbull Thursday!! 💜☀️😆 This theme is so Jenn!!! 🤣 And in honor of her birthday so of course this girl is in!!! Punzie is one of my favorite princesses so I loved honoring her! I did the @onepeloton Pitbull run at Jenn’s request as well! Since it was a 30 minute run, I decided my goal today would be to run 4 miles. Why did I run 4 miles today?! 🤪 Because I can! And I will never take running for granted. 🥰 It was super hot and humid. 🥵 The temp was 81° with a feels like of 88° when I walked out the door. But there was some wind so that helped with the heat…but made the run more tough. 🌬️🙄😆 But even though that last mile about killed me…I sucked it up and got it done! 4.05 miles! 🏃🏻♀️ And then I walked 1.45 miles after! But I didn’t stop there! I came inside (after stretching of course) and did a 20 minute Disney Bodyweight Strength class. It’s Elsa Wednesday in honor of @disneyrunrepeat ‘s birthday celebration week!!! ❄️🩵 I attempted to pose like Elsa but I didn’t do a very good job! 🤣 But it definitely didn’t feel like Elsa! When I walked outside to run this morning the temperature was already 80° with a feels like of 86°! 🥵 Thankfully it was partly cloudy so the sun wasn’t out in full force. The run wasn’t as hot or bad as I was expecting. I think the cloud cover really helped because as soon as the sun would come out you could instantly feel the heat. It’s a Princess Theme Week in honor of @disneyrunrepeat ‘s birthday!! 🥳 I’m ALWAYS in for a Princess theme! 🤣 I missed Moana Monday because I was out of town. But the rest of the week is on!!! #Latepost from 5/4/24: Lifetime half marathon #310 (the @mainecoastrun Half) is in the books! ✅ This was a repeat state for me because I was already registered for a race in NH this weekend and I decided to make it a double half marathon weekend since I was traveling all the way from the West Coast. • Other than shuttles to the start, it was a pretty well organized race with nice swag and a good after-party! We had perfect running weather and a few ocean views, but the race was mostly run through the neighborhoods around Wells. The course went through some wetlands and nature preserves and was mostly flat with a few rollers and gradual inclines thrown in. Course support was ok, but it would have been nice to have some nutrition (gels) offered on the course. There weren’t many spectators, but that was to be expected. • In spite my slow finish, there was still plenty of finish line food & beer left and the DJ was still going strong when I left! There was pizza, bananas, granola bars, ice cream & beer at the finish line. The course was a bit hillier than I expected, but I was satisfied with my finish time. (I was sad that I missed several friends at the start due to the shuttle issues, but oh well… 😔). #Latepost from 4/28/24 - Lifetime half marathon #309 is in the books! ✅ It was my first time running the @napaspringhalfmarathon (formerly known as the Napa Women’s Half). I signed up last year when it was only $40 because my friends talked me into it. However, I had no idea that Napa was so hilly! 😱 @lnull19 and I spoke to one of the pacers at packet pick up the day before and he told us that the course was “mostly flat with a few gentle rollers and 1 big hill around Mile 10”. 🤣 • There was nothing GENTLE about those hills! 😳 What made it worse was that there was several sections of rough road with cracks in the pavement & uneven surfaces! 😫 (Tripping hazards are no bueno when you have cancer in the bones!) I altered my run/walk intervals to walk up all of the hills (with occasional jogs thrown in) and run the downhills to make up time. Surprisingly I didn’t bonk this time and I was able to maintain the modified intervals for the entire race! 😃 • The race started in downtown Napa and headed to the outskirts of town amidst the wineries & vineyards. It was beautiful, but there were no gels on the course and only every other aid station had electrolytes. (The others only had water.) • Despite my calves, quads & my right knee screaming at me in pain, I somehow managed to finish under 3:30 (3:28:21)! 🥳 This was more than 18 minutes faster than my time at the California Classic Half 2 weeks ago, and that was a much flatter course! I’m thankful that my treatment is working! 🙏 I’m getting stronger and my endurance is improving! 🩷💪🏃🏻♀️ • Post-race goodies included bottled water, electrolytes, a granola bar, and a mandarin orange, plus wine tastings for the 21+ runners. The swag was nice. Good quality medal with a matching poly/rayon blend shirt, and a wine glass. It would have been nice to see a non-alcoholic option other than water. Well organized race, but a one & done for me due to the rough roads. #Latepost from 4/27/24: Lifetime 5K #165 is in the books (with a 2nd place age group finish 🥈)! ✅ The Spirit Run 5K was a small local race benefitting the Fresno American Indian Health Project (@faihp_community). The course was flat and fast (on the Clovis Old Town Trail). There was 1 water station, which we passed twice. Course entertainment consisted of Native American songs/drums & a DJ and there were plenty of volunteers directing us which way to go. • When we finished, we got a nice medal, bottled water, granola bars and mandarin oranges. There were optional tacos, burritos & aguas frescas available for purchase after the race too. Trophies were given out to the 1st place finisher in each age group (in increments of 5 years). My friend Andrew got 1st in his age group! 🥇 I also saw a couple of other friends at the race. That was nice! 😊 • My time wasn’t that fast, but it was a small race, which was good enough to earn me a 2nd place AG finish! 🥈 No award, but I was still happy with my finish time (especially considering that I had a bloody toe from my 2 toes rubbing together and I was in pain for the 2nd half of the race)! The closing ceremony consisted of Native American dances in traditional costumes. It was such a busy weekend! Between 6 shows at work, Sawyer’s Prom, Hayden’s Trumpet Recital, and taking care of a friend’s puppies…. I got out a little earlier to run this morning and that was a great decision! 🤣 It wasn’t as hot! 🙌🏻 The only downside is the traffic is worse! My neighborhood is near two schools so we always get the school traffic. But I got in 2.05 miles!! 🏃🏻♀️ And my legs didn’t feel as tired this morning. They’ve been really heavy on my runs recently and I think it’s been due to the heat. I can do hard things. I know how strong and capable I am. I’ve lived through many challenges and adversities. And not only have I gotten through it, I’ve thrived. I’ve learned and grown and have become the best version of myself. I may carry scares and cracked and dings but I’m certainly not broke.
