Many of you heard about how while I was in the ultimate tree bliss of pilchuck… my car was stolen out of my apartment parking lot 🥶 . Insurance is helping me pay out *most* of my old loan, but I am still stuck with a couple thousand dollars to pay for what they won’t cover, deductibles, items/tools of mine the theft threw away and Ubers to get to work next week…it’s a long journey to getting a new car 🫠 which really sucks considering I did not steal my car and I’m paying for a lot… 😥 . My car was deemed a total loss because the person who stole it did copious amounts of meth inside and damaged the interior and exterior in many ways.. after seeing my car in person I don’t think they could get the smell out if they tried. . Anyway! I am hosting a studio sale this weekend to try and sell some of the completed pieces I have this Friday and Saturday! There is a range of items and prices that will be available! . . 🧠 Bonjour mardi. Aujourd'hui devrait être le dernier jour que je vois cet ascenseur avant longtemps, mais finalement il me reste encore 3 séances de radiothérapie à faire suite à la grève de la semaine dernière. Je suis arrivée en plein forme à la ICO ce matin après la petite semaine de repos non prévu 😜 mais purée ma pêche n'a pas duré longtemps 😒 Après les rayons cetait rdv pour une prise de sang, ensuite rdv avec le médecin radiothérapie, ensuite jai du aller chercher l'ordonnance de l'oncologue pour 3 jours de chimio supplémentaires et finalement une visite de la pharmacie de l'hôpital afin de récupérer les médicaments 😣. 4 heures plus tard je suis de retour chez moi, prete à dormir! 🥺🥱 Et avec tout ça j'ai même pas pensé à prendre une photo de mes baskets 😏 #botd Mais admirons cette sweat magnifique... . 🧠 Hello Monday 🥰 Une nouvelle semaine commence et cette fois ci c'est la dernière 🦾 Après les jours de grève la semaine dernière qui m'ont fait raté quelques séances de radiothérapie, j'ai reçu un appel de médecin vendredi soir pour confirmer que je reprendrai demain (mardi). Je terminerai donc ma 30eme séance ce vendredi le 24 mai 😊 Du coup depuis mardi dernier je suis "en repos" et crois moi ça fait de bien 🤣 Je prends toujours mes cachets de chimio tous les jours, mais ne pas devoir faire mes A-R quotidien à l'hôpital c'est top 🤣🙈 Il y a quelques jours j'ai reçu un appel de mon grand frère. (Pour ceux d'entre vous qui ne le savent pas, je suis la benjamine d'une fratrie de 3, mon frère habite au Canada et ma sœur encore en Irlande). On se voit donc très (trop) rarement mais on reste très soudés. "Vendredi prochain t'es chez toi?" "oui pourquoi?" "jarrive!". 😳 Et voilà que vendredi à 17h mon frère a frappé à la porte! Le bonheur immense de lui revoir après plusieurs années 🥹🥹 Il a passé le week-end avec moi, on a parlé (beaucoup), rigolé (trop), mangé (énormément) mais surtout on a apprécié d'être ensemble encore. Il est reparti aussi vite qu'il est arrivé, est passé voir notre père en Irlande avant de rentrer au grand Nord.🇨🇦 🥰 Et comme ma vie est remplie des moments de bonheur, hier matin j'ai entendu un clé tourner dans la porte .. mon grand fils était là : "j'ai eu un coup de bleus hier soir donc j'ai pris le TGV ce matin, je passe la journée avec toi" Que de l'amour. Spasticity, what even is it? A biyatch, that’s what. To be honest, I never really knew or understood what it was for ~27 years or until my TBI 🤷♂️ so that means it’s lesson time for those wanting a read…🥸 A google search says “spasticity is abnormal muscle tightness due to prolonged muscle contraction. It is a symptom associated with damage to the brain, spinal cord or motor nerves” but this doesn’t explain how it can impact someone. I recently showed how I am now affected by muscle ‘tone’ in my right hand. All muscles in the body have ‘tone’ and it simply is the resting state of the muscle (being the amount of tension it has). The difference between ‘spasticity’ and ‘tone’ is… spasticity involves movement and describes how the muscle reacts to sudden changes or moments of contraction. If you flexed your arm in a bicep curl fashion, if you presented with higher spasticity the bicep would ‘catch’ the movement preempting it, trying to calm it down… Both tone and spasticity affects everyone differently. BUT for me, I struggle with higher spasticity (and tone) in my right side; cause it was the left side of the brain injured. It affects my speech (I have Dysarthria; which I say makes me sound ‘drunk’), also affecting my R arm, my R leg — so I now get a clonus, which is basically a judder — and my core/oblique; basically it means my ‘balance’ is pretty poor reacting to sudden movements 🥲 In the last few weeks I have fallen over: at the pool getting out the water, when the train I just boarded moved off quickly 🤦♂️ Then I have fallen whilst at home: walking up the stairs, rotating getting into bed and putting my bike shoes on. Spasticity is something I’ll have to learn to live with and I’ll need to come up with my own solutions/techniques of limiting so it’s still a testing phase of seeing how much I can do or cope with before it becomes a problem. . 🧠 Jeudi ... et pas de séance des rayons aujourd'hui. Pour la 2eme journée de suite ma séance est annulé à cause d'un grève à l'hôpital. Je ne vais rien dire ayant travaillé pendant presque 30ans pour les rois des grèves (non pas le SNCF, les autres 🤣). Du coup au lieu de terminer mardi prochain ça sera jeudi ma dernière séance.. si la grève s'arrête aujourd'hui 🤣 Bon j'hésite à retourner sous la couette vu le temps automnale qu'il fait ici ☔️ si non il y a la 3ème saison de #bridgerton sur netflix à regarder. Min unge Ellie går i den klassen därav bilder på henne med vänner😍 ( hon var inte så glad när hon hörde att jag skulle till hennes klass men jag tror att jag undvek att skämma ut henne🤣) Galet duktiga elever och jag hoppas att de fortsätter att teckna serier👌 Jag lär ut allt från id'e till färdig strip dvs pratbubblor, kroppspråk, ansiktsuttryck, rutor och mycket mer. Många elever har lättare att komma på storys när dom har tecknat en figur. Då kan man locka fram en story genom den. Ex med frågor som "vad heter figuren?' " hur är dens personlighet' osv och plötsligt finns hela berättelsen där. "Illmatic", Nas, 1994. I've never been a huge fan of Nasir "Nas" Jones - too many beefs, too much macho posturing, a rather uneven body of work. His success but also the breakthroughs of the Wu-Tang Clan and Biggie noticeably steered East Coast Hip Hop away from fun, underground vibes, from the Native Tongues and Playa boasts and into darker, more violent, more confrontational territory. All of this and the whole East Coast / West Coast war was commetcially incredibly successful but back in the day took the spotlight (and label support) away from a lot of artists that were and still are very dear to me. That being said there's no denying however that "Illmatic", Nas debut album, is one of the greatest and most accomplished records in all of Hip Hop. Everyone who was anyone in NYC produced tunes for the album - DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Large Professor and Q-Tip all contribute excellent tunes. And Nas himself here shines like a mfing supernova, towering confidently over the competition, as an MC with his excellent smooth mid-tempo flow but also as a storyteller, narrating the harsh realities of his native Queensbridge hood, of drugs, violence and despair. No Best Of list would be complete without "Illmatic", even casual listeners should be gripped and uttery impressed by the sheer musical quality of this album which in retrospect just keeps growing in importance. Les techniciennes ont été adorable (comme toujours!) a expliquer tout ce que s'est passé etc. Pour mes fils c'est rassurants de voir ceci car ils voient surtout que je ne suis pas stressé à y aller, que les séances sont très rapide etc. (Oui oui je suis en train de rigoler pendant qu'elles me posent la masque dans la premiere photo 🤣🙈). Le temps d'un petit selfie dans l'ascenseur mais on a oublié la photo #botd 🤦🏻♀️ . Plus que 6 séances des rayons et ensuite j'aurai un mois de pause. J'avoue que j'en ai bien besoin. La historia de Illmatic comienza en realidad unos años antes, en 1991, cuando Nas apareció por primera vez, con unos versos en el tema «Live at the Barbeque» de Main Source, un tramo que tomó a la gente por sorpresa. Inmediatamente, el tercer miembro de Bass, MC Serch, contrató a Nas, que originalmente se autodenominó Nasty Nas, para un acuerdo de publicación y se puso a trabajar para tratar de conseguirle un contrato discográfico. Lo llevó a Def Jam, pero Russell Simmons pensó que Nas sonaba demasiado parecido a Kool G Rap, así que optó por no firmar con él. La siguiente parada fue Columbia Records (en ese momento CBS), donde Faith Newman-Orbach aprovechó la oportunidad para subirlo a bordo. Large Professor, Pete Rock, Q-Tip (A tribe Called Quest), L.E.S o DJ Premier (de Gang Starr) fueron algunos de los productores contratados para la música del álbum. En cuanto al titulo del álbum, el propio Nas ha proporcionado varias interpretaciones. En un principio, antes del lanzamiento del mismo afirmó en una entrevista promocional que Illmatic significa “mas allá de lo enfermo” o “lo último”, y que era una referencia a su amigo de Queensbridge, Illmatic Ice, que estaba en la cárcel en aquel momento. Illmatic, con un límite de diez canciones, estaba en el barrio y cada pista era perfecta en su propia forma única, y no hay dos sonidos iguales.
