Italian far right MEP Angelo Ciocca (ID, League) made several claims during his intervention on the Italian news channel SkyTg24. In a video extract posted last week on his X account, he claims that European policies are aimed at impoverishing Italy, more specifically that Italy lost 600,000 farms in the last ten years because of European agricultural policies. In a message added on the edited video it reads: “Europe's follies at the table risk cutting 30% of made in Italy food production”. Ciocca, who has been a MEP for two consecutive legislatures since 2016, is no stranger to European policies. In fact, he was there when the infamous CAP (Common Agricultural Policy) was voted on during a plenary in the European Parliament in November 2021. As also reported by Italian journalist David Carretta, Ciocca and his party the League voted in favour of most of the proposals in the CAP which has been contested by farmers in the last months. Wir wollen mehr Geld in die Entwicklungszusammenarbeit, die Bekämpfung von Fluchtursachen und die globale Demokratisierung investieren. Nur durch sozial-ökologische Entwicklung in allen Ländern und die Konfliktlösung über die Institutionen der UN können wir einen nachhaltigen Frieden garantieren. Με ευκαιρία τη σημερινή επέτειο και με αφορμή τις επερχόμενες Ευρωεκλογές του Ιουνίου ας αναλογιστούμε την πορεία μας στο πέρασμα του χρόνου και στην καρδιά της Ευρώπης ! Σαν σήμερα 45 χρόνια πριν, στις 28 Μαΐου 1979, ο Εθνάρχης, Κωνσταντίνος Καραμανλής υπέγραψε στο Ζάππειο Μέγαρο την Συνθήκη Ένταξης της Ελλάδος στην ΕΟΚ, σηματοδοτώντας ένα από τα πιο σημαντικά ορόσημα της σύγχρονης ελληνικής ιστορίας.
