Meet Barry Wootten, who conducts the massive job of getting 800 loads of shelf-stable food loaded and delivered every other month to those in need in Helena, Townsend, Augusta, Wolf Creek, Lincoln, Boulder, Elliston, and White Sulphur Springs. Barry started at Rocky in 2013 and has done a bit of everything within the Senior Nutrition Program before settling into the commodities role. "I enjoy my fellow employees, and working with our stellar group of volunteers. This job is very physically demanding and keeps me moving, which is a good thing. I love interacting with the recipients of the commodities we deliver, and knowing that we are doing good in our communities. Transforming streets into vibrant community spaces! Attending the 9th Annual Open Streets Lancaster was an experience like no other. Hosted by @lancaster_rec in partnership with the @cityoflancpa and the Lancaster Bikes program, this family-friendly event turned Water Street into a playground for all ages and abilities Open Streets Lancaster isn’t just an event; it’s a movement. It’s about re-imagining our city as a place where walking and biking aren’t just modes of transport but ways to connect deeply with our surroundings and each other. It’s about creating a positive, safe environment where everyone can come together and enjoy all that Lancaster has to offer. Lancaster joined over 90 other cities across the US and Canada in celebrating Open Streets initiatives. We’ve taken a step beyond just a street fair, transforming Water Street into a safe, car-free playground where everyone can walk, bike, skate, and explore freely at the 9th Annual Open Streets. What made today so unique wasn’t just the activities, but the sense of community. Seeing families, friends, and neighbors exploring together, discovering new passions, and supporting local businesses was truly heartwarming. Local bands played, artists displayed their work, food trucks served delicious treats, and non-profits shared their missions. Seeing so many people walking, biking, blading, and skating, all while connecting with each other and exploring new interests, was truly heartwarming.
