I was asking for snow... I got it. 😁 I stayed on the #appalachaintrail #baldmountain in hopes we would get hit with some snow. It was perfect... I was able to test out my #backpackinggear, including my #zpackstents, and I had no issues with it. 5:30 am-First pitch of my #zpacksduplex tent. I have Diamond carbon fiber 110cm trekking poles and need to get adjustable 120cm, so that is why so low. I think I did pretty good getting all sides tight. I’ll post another with the 120cm poles later. Also, I am using the #msr groundhog stakes of course. . It was supposed to be windy and rainy at 4 am this morning so I wanted to start by pitching in the wind. Tomorrow I’ll get up and do it again. 10+ years and counting our yearly Lakeshore Trail/Stehekin trip is always an adventure. We managed an almost totally flooded campground finding some drier spots by the bathrooms with a rising raging river and a thunderstorm. Tequila shots helped. Bakery as delicious as ever! Met a gun carrying hiker and helped out with a tic removal. The trail and flowers were beautiful as ever. Went to sleep with the smell of wild lilacs. Best part...the company. Tag 5 — Wetter ist alles: Nach Tagen des Schwitzens war es schön in der Frische von ca 2200 m zu schlafen. Der weitere Anstieg am Morgen begann schon nebelig, aber schön mit Sonnenlöchern, von denen eins mich einlud, mich in die Miniatur-Blaubeerfelder zu setzen, und die feinen Beeren zu meinen Haferflocken mit Mandeln zu mischen. Dazu habe ich das restliche Wasser benutzt, es sollten ja nur noch 5 km oder so bis zu den Seen sein. Dann aber habe ich irgendwo den falschen Weg (wenn auch grob die richtige Richtung) genommen und bin über den 2700 m hohen Kamm vom Puig Negre gegenüber vom eigentlichen Pic Canigó geklettert, durch dessen Tal der schönere Weg ging, 5 Stunden lang bei nassem Sturm von der Seite. Das war mir doch zu viel Mondlandschaft, da mag ich unendlich viel lieber das grüne Leben, dass sich, wie es dann ein fröhliches Ende nahm, sich plötzlich unter mir in einem Nebelloch auftat, zu dem ich dann mit seinen schönen kleinen Silberseen - es gab dort oben ja kein Wasser - hinabstieg, trank und ein paar kleine Ebenen tiefer dem mir folgenden Wind entkam und endlich mein Zelt aufbaute - 500 Höhenmeter tiefer war die Welt wieder in Ordnung. Im trockenen Zelt konnte ich endlich essen und mich erholen, und jetzt war der wiederaufkommende Regen nur noch gemütlich. #hauteroutepyrenees #gr10 #pyrenees #wildcamping #zpackstents

Larapinta Trail 2.0 - Day Seven Hugh Junction to Rocky Gully 19km The morning started with a gorgeous walk down to the exit of Hugh Gorge. Quite a few waterholes some requiring a scramble around the rocks on the side to pass. Breakfast and water refill at the trailhead then it was into section Six out across the Alice Valley. After three days of big elevation gains and losses it was nice to get our stomp on , stretch the legs and do some simple hiking. The day was broken up with short tests at Hugh View and Ghost Gum. An overcast sky kept things reasonably cool and the flowers kept the landscape interesting.
