💛I once heard it said that humility is the virtue from which all other virtues flow. And if there is anything that is true, it is that.💛 So many of my heart changes first started with humility. Whether it be in my schooling and work, motherhood, or married life…always, ALWAYS, the chance to be humble sprung forth goodness in the end. Even if it took a while to see the fruit. Just the same, my author hat forces me into reckoning between pride and humility. And as much as it makes me squirm, pride rarely lasts very long in this part of my life. If you’ve ever put yourself out there—put your heart out there—and been at the mercy of others’ opinions and reactions, then you know what I mean. While my imagination runs wild in a negative direction…and I can imagine myself being the center in some Princess Bride boo-ing session 😂, I am quickly reminded that focusing on myself in a bad light is still focusing on myself. A twisted form of pride? Probably. Thank God for the recent lessons of humility in my author life—like the embarrassing moment when my display was knocked over on a reader 🤦♀️, reminding me I am not as professional as I think I should be. And that’s ok!😁 Other moments ticked by that brought joy and kindness and mercy—all springing forth from the humility of the day— the very fact that I was part of the day. I am so humbled to be invited in as an author, especially to join in with such wonderful authors and readers. Happy Saturday and the Windsor Heights Book Fair is happy to announce the addition of a new feature author, S.D. Buhr. S. D. Buhr was only seventeen when he got his first professional writing job as a part-time sportswriter for his small hometown afternoon newspaper, the Webster City (Iowa) Daily Freeman-Journal. Three colleges and two unrelated careers later, he once again found himself writing about sports for multiple online media outlets. When the COVID shutdown of 2020 made covering sports all but impossible, he began writing what would become the Growing Up Barely Boomer series of novels. Splitting time primarily between Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Fort Myers, Florida, he spends most of his time reading, writing, listening to music, watching baseball, and being a grandpa—occasionally all at the same time. Born just outside of Chicago, Jason Liegois lives in south central Iowa having lived for the majority of his life in the eastern Iowa area, including his hometown of Muscatine. A graduate of the University of Iowa, Liegois spent 12 years as a full-time and freelance journalist with various eastern Iowa and western Illinois papers, including the Muscatine Journal, Quad City Times, and Clinton Herald, among others, before starting a teaching career. He now works now as a secondary school special education teacher, having previously taught language arts at the same level, and also previously taught composition with Muscatine Community College and Upper Iowa University. He and his wife Laura have two adult children and his writing blog, Liegois Media (https://liegois.media), has been up and running since 2017.
