And in other news … What is it with me and black kittens in the middle of nowhere? In the fading light, we could see black roadkill on the shoulder of I37. As we got closer, we could see a very small kitten dart out of the grass and attempt to eat?? the roadkill. At that moment, a very large truck drove by doing 80mph, scaring the kitten and making it jump towards the highway. We circled back, roadkill was skunk. No sign of kitten. As Kaitlin approached the grass, the kitten started meowing very loudly. She was able to grab it easily. Kitty was treated to ham and water (both were consumed voraciously). Kitty was bleeding from a wound to her tail and was covered in cactus spines (and fleas). Orlando is a shorty & we think that’s pretty adorable! He’s snorty & very photogenic. We don’t always have all the info when we post since we get such a high volume of dogs & we want them to be seen! We have a very dog population right now & they all need heroes. Here’s what one of our volunteers had to say, “I low-rider with with chopped ears and a snort like a little piggy. Moderately open to playing fetch but more interested in booty scratches. He seems to have some itchy skin & we’d love to get him up to feeling better but a really goofy and loving personality. Reminds me of a potato more than the normal pittie.
