It was very foggy when we woke up, but on nearing Calais, the sun was glorious👌🏻☀️Checked Chester in at pet reception & went to our check in screen - jackpot, earlier train!👌🏻We went straight to boarding, through passports x 2, drug swipe, van check & gas check in 29 mins from arriving - result!👍🏻 We had our coffee & croissant on the shuttle & arrived back in England at 9am & headed straight for Canterbury. The 25 minute journey was terrible!🫣God awful roads, pot holes & no tarmac everywhere, Alice was rattling like mad & the sat nag had popped out of its holder 3 times 😡 French & Spanish roads are a dream - these are a disgrace!😖 Anyway…we had a brew on arrival & chilled out doing a bit of admin, then got the free bus into town. First stop pub for our first cider & we almost collapsed at the price. £12.40 for 2 pints!!!😱😳Welcome home eh?!! We only went in to see if they were doing food as we’ve eaten there before, but no way were we paying them prices!! So we savoured that pint & went for a lovely walk instead😍Found a more reasonably priced pub for some food, got some bits we needed, then as it was a nice day, we didn’t get the bus back, we walked it. Back at Alice, we’d not done our 10000 steps!!🙃 So later that evening we went back out & walked down to the cricket ground where there was a game on. Watched a bit, whilst chatting to the guys on the gate, then wandered back. Ein langes Wochenende im Van 4 Tage im Van schlafen, kochen, essen, lachen, leben und wir können nicht genug bekommen! Dieser Ausflug war ein ganz toller Vorgeschmack auf all die Reisen und Abenteuer, die wir in der Zukunft mit unserem Van "Paula" erleben werden. Ein Moment, um mal kurz innezuhalten und auf das zurückzublicken, was wir zu zweit in den letzten 8 Monaten geschafft haben und stolz darauf zu sein! Letztes Jahr im Oktober haben wir den Transporter gekauft und seitdem fast jede freie Minute mit dem Ausbau verbracht. Wir hatten dabei jede Menge Spaß, haben noch mehr gelernt und konnten viele unserer Ideen umsetzen. Der Ausbau war aber auch oft anstrengend und hat an unseren Nerven gezehrt. Manchmal lagen die Nerven blank wenn wieder etwas nicht so funktioniert hat wie wir uns das vorgestellt haben. 🇬🇧👇🏼~ Norwegen, Hoysand Hafen ~ Ahoi! Unser 1. Stop in Norwegen war der kleine Hafen in Hoysand. Ein ruhiger Platz, nur ein paar Einheimische, welche den Strand nutzen und alle freundlich waren. Wir hatten super Wetter, konnten draußen essen und Schiffe gucken.Nachts standen wir nur noch zu dritt. Auch ganz gut, dass Mülleimer vorhanden sind und etwas spazieren geht auch. Ein paar hundert Meter weiter ist direkt eine Tankstelle und 5 min Fußweg eine Eisbude. Für eine Nacht völlig in Ordnung. A quiet place, only a few locals using the beach and everyone was friendly. We had great weather, were able to eat outside and watch the ships. At night there were only three of us left. It's also good that there are trash cans and you can also go for a walk. There's a gas station a few hundred meters away and an ice cream stand a 5-minute walk away. Perfect for one night. ...To my horror, Mom's entire leg disappeared into the cloudy nothingness. I ran to catch her without a plan for what I'd do next. By the time I reached Mom, she'd already stopped falling. She sat on the white blob and pulled her leg back to safety. "Hey, how did you..." I started to ask, until I noticed my own legs standing on top of the white puff. It wasn't like a cloud at all. It held me up like regular dirt, except colder and sparklier. I lifted up a paw and found a paw-shaped dent in its surface. I sniffed at my palm. It smelled like glitter and freezers. I licked it. It was delicious. I rolled onto my back and ground it into my fur, just to feel it from another angle. When I stood up, there was a perfect Oscarprint. "Why didn't you tell me dirt could be like this?!" I asked, admiring the fan-shaped tail feathers my wagging tail left on my snow angel. "Have you ever seen anything so wonderful in your entire life?!" "I have, actually," Mom said, doing her best Squidward impression. "I grew up with snow…" I shook from head to tail in disbelief. "And you left?! What’s the matter with you?" "It’s different when you're late for work and it’s sitting on your car and blocking your driveway.” "You had it at your house?" I blurted. South Dakota today! On a débuté au réveil dans un petit coin de paradis au milieu de nulle part près d'une rivière. Ce camp avait tout pour nous plaire! Gambit y a trouvé un os d'animal quelconque, Sherlock a trouvé un vieux poisson mort dans lequel se rouler, le tout sur une petite île bien inaccessible pour que je ne puisse pas le déranger! Moi j'y ai trouvé mes premières morels!!! J'attendais ce moment depuis longtemps! Et Simon lui a trouvé des toilettes confortables au camp lol. On a ensuite tracé sous la pluie pour se rendre au mont Rushmore, hyper intéressant! Puis dans black Hills où j'ai tenté l'impossible de passer au travers d'un minuscule tunnel de roche, sous les regards perplexes des autres touristes! Jule ohne Leine am Stellplatz 🥰 . Auf Wohnmobilstellplätzen und Campingplätzen, müssen Hunde meist dauernd an der Leine bleiben. Das ist auch gut so, wenn es eng ist und die Fellnasen schnell ihr Revier verletzt sehen und sich melden. . Hier waren wir wieder einmal auf einem Platz, wo es nicht vorgeschrieben ist und wo auch Platz genug war, dass die Fellnasen zumindest am Platz ohne Leine bleiben. . Alle Hundebesitzer haben das auch richtig gut gemacht und aufgepasst. Wenn es zum Gassi ging und man an anderen Hunden vorbei musste, kamen die Vierbeiner an die Leine, die es nicht ohne Probleme schaffen. . In unserer Ecke waren wir ziemlich alleine und Jule🐾 konnte am Platz und auf die Gassi Runde frei laufen. . Wenn andere vorbei gingen, blieb sie auch ganz ruhig. Zusammen mit den Kindern hat sie getobt, Tricks gezeigt und beim kleinsten den ein oder anderen Krümmel vom Essen gefunden. Ria hat den ganzen Trubel super gemeistert und kam trotzdem gut zur Ruhe. Vanlife beginnt 2 Jahre, 10000 Anzeigen, mehrere Besichtigungen später haben wir nun „unseren“ Van gefunden. Die Suche ist in Kombination mit Hund, Rollstuhlfahrer und meinem eigensinnigen Geschmack nicht ganz einfach. Haben wir Abstriche gemacht? Absolut. Das Wichtigste für uns war, dass sowohl Lieselotte und Phillip sich selbstständig und frei bewegen können und gerade Phillip nicht dauerhaft auf meine Hilfe angewiesen ist. (Er könnte auch ohne mich mit dem Camper iwo stehen und würde alleine klarkommen, nur fahren kann er ihn nicht😂) Außerdem sollte das Grundgerüst, Strom/Gas/Wasser bereits vorhanden sein. Ja wir sind handwerklich nicht unfähig, aber in Kombination mit dem Garten und Vollzeitjobs hätte ich einfach nicht die Zeit für einen Komplettausbau gehabt. Und hinzu kommt, dass mir an vielen Stellen das Know how gefehlt hätte. Natürlich werden wir auch hier noch einiges werkeln müssen und es tauchen jeden Tag Kleinigkeiten auf die noch geändert oder gemacht werden müssen. Wir haben nun einen Van der uns gefällt, der sicher noch ein paar Probleme mit sich bringen wird. Er ist Baujahr 2007 da ist das eben so. Aber Phillip kommt selbstständig darin klar, Löddi fühlt sich wohl und ich finde ihn innen optisch absolut ansprechend. Beaucoup de conduite aujourd'hui au travers du Wyoming pour nous poser se soir le long d'une rivière bien tranquille à la bordure de South Dakota. Malgré la grosse journée de conduite, nous nous sommes tout de même arrêté à la Devil's Tower, nommé premier patrimoine aux USA. Cette tour de roche volcanique est impressionnante et franchement imposante! Avec le coucher du soleil au retour, cela offrait un spectacle magnifique! J'ai aussi trouvé que dans tous les endroits où on s'est arrêté au Wyoming il avait toujours un mec avec un chapeau de cowboy en cuir qui me saluait en disant "howdy!" ..."See? I knew it would work out," Mom said with a lift of her chin. "We'll just hike on the sunny side of the peak and it'll be fine. Nature always provides." Only a few steps down the safe trail, the gnarled fingers of the brush began reaching out to pet me. They patted me in quick swipes at first, then scratched my sides in long strokes that went on for several steps. The trail got narrower and fainter until the bushes on each side joined hands. "It sure is overgrown," Mom grunted. She took a step that was more like a belly flop into a bush. "Are you sure that's a trail?" I asked. "No, I guess not." The bush spit Mom out and she reached down to wipe the ooze of blood from a scrape on her ankle. "But doesn't it seem like there should be a better viewing spot for that waterfall up there?" I followed where her eyes were pointing. Water gushed clumsily out of a dent in the highest part of the mountain. Yesterday's waterfall looked like a dripping faucet compared to this downpour, which spit an entire monsoon into the sky. This must be the water that came from inside all those clouds that the mountain sliced open. It dawned on me that I was watching a rainstorm in the making. The Weather Jinx (Mom) marveled at the mighty source of her hapless superpower for a long moment before turning around. "Okay, fine," she she sighed. "I guess we should go the other way." We arrived back at the fork just in time to see two men walk by with the strangest packs I'd ever seen. Instead of wadded-up sleeping bags or dangling water bottles, these packpacks had planks lashed across them like bones on a jolly roger. The planks were almost as long as the hikers were tall and stuck out over their heads, curling at the end like horns. "Uh oh, that's not good," Mom said.
