1 Year on the Road! Yesterday marked 12 months since we packed up, rented out our home & hit the road as full-time travelers. We are about half way through our trip around the country- well what we planned to do anyway. No doubt that will change (again) as we like to be spontaneous when we can. We are still loving it. Yes there has been times when it’s challenging but that’s life at any given moment, right? Makes no difference if you are living in a house or a van. For anyone thinking about it- we are firmly in the “just do it” camp. Life is short and unpredictable. Money is not everything and there are many opportunities for work if you need it. Yesterday we ventured from our current stop at the Gold Coast, QLD back down to Orange, NSW. Leaving the van at the Gold Coast for a week. We didn’t think that we would be heading back to familiar surroundings so soon after hitting the road full time, a family funeral was unexpected. Another day, another adventure. This time it was the Dandenongs. Our first stop was some tasty lunch at @proserpina_bakehouse Make sure you get there early though as the line can be long and you don’t want to miss out on the delicious baked goods. A perfect spot to eat with a pup. There was the option of a lovely covered deck or a shady seat in amongst the garden. We opted for the Jack and Jill seat in the garden and weren’t disappointed. 10 minutes down the road you will find the Old Olinda golf course. It’s now a wonderfully green and lush open space to let your pup run leash free. Plenty of space for pups big and small with a beautiful view of the rolling hills. There is also a well appointed playground for children at the entrance and a little caravan serving coffee from Wednesday to Sunday. Hazel thoroughly enjoyed her post lunch run at this wonderful outdoor space. ~ Let us introduce or reintroduce ourselves ~ We’re Leanda and Paul (32) along with our trusty fur-children Buddha and Bella! High school sweethearts from Brisbane who decided to sell all and travel 2 years ago! We had a house and got married and did everything society expects you to do and needed more, so we bought a caravan and 8 months later, had the house and everything we owned sold and hit the road. We left in March 2022 and have not regretted one second of trip, we’re happier now, we’re closer now, and all round excited for everything we have in the pipeline. We both share a huge sense of adventure hence the name Forever Getting Lost, we used to leave home with no plans and just drive, getting lost or random road signs led us to some incredible off the beaten path places, which is exactly what we’ve adopted on this trip too! Paul is the captain of our ship, ultimate navigator and savvy wikicamps searcher! Without him this would literally be impossible I (Leanda) am the trusty co pilot, passenger princess, music adjuster, aircon setter and snack handler! Looking for a little beach adventure with your 4 legged friend? Tassells Cove Dog Beach is a great little spot to cool off with your pup on a hot summers day. It’s at the quiet end of Safety Beach, where the water laps against the picturesque cliffside. Pups are allowed off lead here for 24 hours a day. The stretch of sand is long enough to pick your own little spot to relax and it’s sheltered enough that you feel safe letting your pup run free. The small set of stairs from the car park leads you to the marina boardwalk that will take you to Martha’s Cove. There you can find coffee, snacks and a lovely restaurant @marthastable__ . Dogs are welcome to sit with you at the outdoor tables and on the grassed area. The jaunt along the boardwalk to Martha’s Cove will take approximately. 20 minutes return to the car park. Day trip to Port Macquarie We had a stroll along the Breakwall and seen all the beautiful rocks that were painted. Definitely some very impressive art on the rocks. We then drove along the coastline and came to the Tacking Point Lighthouse. I don’t know what it is but there is something I love about lighthouses and each place we travel I have to find the lighthouse! Christmas Getaway First Stop 📍 Stoney Park Holiday Park We booked through @hipcampau and booked the Stoney Park Waterfront Camp Sites. When we arrived and were checking in we were super lucky and paid a little extra and got a powered site and it was dog friendly too! We had some crazy storms while we were here. We meet some lovely families and had a few cold beverages for Christmas. The only downside to this caravan park is the Aqua Park is not included. A 50 minute session starts at $20. Moore Park Beach you surprised us! What a beautiful stretch of beach right on your doorstep. We were lucky enough to get a beachfront caravan site at @mooreparkbeachholidaypark with direct access to the beach. A very magical place where you relax the moment you hear those waves and smell that sea air. At night the stars above put on a show and the sounds of the ocean drift you off to sleep.
