Ist Folgsamkeit eine Folgskrankheit? WIR SIND DAS FOLG folgt den Spuren der bereits geschehenen Katastrophen durch blinde Gehorsamkeit der Menschen und den immer wieder und gerade heute erneut auftretenden Gefahren durch diese Charaktereigenschaft. Zentrum der Ausstellung ist ein Hocker aus Beton. Betont werden soll mit ihm die gefährliche Schwerfälligkeit der sich im Augenblick des Vollzugs so leicht anfühlenden Folgsamkeit. Für die 25-minütige Audioinstallation bleibt man auf dem Hocker sitzen und starrt auf das Video ‚From the bottom of your heart‘, in dem beispielhaft Folger gezeigt werden, die anderen Folgern und Folgerinnen folgen. Wie bei ‚Clockwork Orange‘ wird man immer und immer wieder mit dem Gleichen bespielt. Hier mit dem Unterschied, dass das Bespielen nicht quält, nein, es beruhigt sogar. Das Quälende vollzieht sich in dieser als eigene und folgsame Performance anmutenden Hingabe an anderer Stelle. Hier schmerzt die verordnete Folgsamkeit, auf dem Hocker sitzen zu bleiben - nicht jeder Besucher oder Besucherin wird die 25 Minuten auf dem Hocker aushalten. Die Sitzfläche des Betonhockers ist mit erhabenen Buchstaben ausgestattet, die sich in die Besucher einprägen. Folgsamkeit macht in unserer Gesellschaft Eindruck. WIR SIND DAS FOLG ist bis zum nächsten intimen Blick in den Spiegel zu sehen – ein bisschen Bücken ist schon notwendig, um es deutlich zu sehen. Die von Arno Gruen in ‚Wider den Gehorsam‘ aufgestellte These, dass folgsame Menschen nichts fühlen, wenn man ihnen ihre eigene Folgsamkeit vor Augen führt, wird zumindest für die Dauer dieser Ausstellung widerlegt. Das im Betondruck und Betonguss-Verfahren hergestellte Einbetonierte wirkt wie eine Schrifttafel – es ist das 1. Gebot der Gesellschaft. Three killer releases from Texan punks INSTITUTE via @sacredbones are online ⛓️ Maybe you know, maybe you don’t, but INSTITUTE it’s one of our favorites and their last album has been on repeat since its release. We also got the chance to see then live at @greetingsfrombcn_ festival in Barcelona and… damn! Politically speaking, not much has changed about the way INSTITUTE exists as a band since signing to Sacred Bones. Having members in Glue, Wiccans, and Back to Back, all fellow stalwarts of the Texas punk scene, helps streamline the approach for them, as all of their bands operate from the same basic ethos. In fact, singer Moses Brown has said they’re only comfortable being on Sacred Bones because he considers the label “a punk label on steroids.” (A note from the label—“Drugs, yes. Steroids, usually no.”) Since their first demo in 2013, the Austin expats in INSTITUTE have edged their raw anarcho-punk blitz into something much more expansive and nuanced. 2014's 'Salt EP' marked the beginning of the band's working relationship with Sacred Bones, and it explored longer, more experimental song forms. 'Catharsis', the band's debut full-length, was another huge push forward, with a slightly cleaner production and some krautrock influence creeping in around the edges. 'Subordination' sees them push themselves further out of genre, incorporating hard rock and glam and writing some of the most diverse material of their career. 'Readjusting The Locks' strives to be economical, its 13 tracks clocking in at a tight 29 minutes. The band has seamlessly incorporated more ’77 rock n’ roll into their sound, some songs feeling like they could’ve been a Stiff Records single. Ils sont deux, le cadre supérieur et son assistante et peut être même ne sont ils plus que deux dans ce monde qui tout autour d'eux s'est écroulé. Posés au septième étage sans escalier ni ascenseur, quand tous les bureaux autour se sont disloqués et qu'il ne reste que des ruines. Pourtant, il continue à affirmer coûte que coûte sa mission, à imposer ses ordres, ses aboiements, son mépris de ce et ceux qui l'entouraient. Une situation qui pourrait être cocasse s'il n'y avait pas toute la tension et la folie, l'absurdité et le manichéisme d'une relation de subordination toxique. Une atmosphère parfois oppressante, souvent dérangeante, une mise en scène sobre et efficace, et deux acteurs qui se renvoient les répliques avec force et colère.
