A new journey begins... Earlier this month, I received a diagnosis of DCIS (Ductal Carcinoma In Situ), Stage 0, #breastcancer. This is a non-invasive form of breast cancer where abnormal cells are present in the lining of the breast duct but have not spread beyond the duct to other tissues in the breast. I am incredibly grateful for the overwhelming love from my very best friends and #1 & only daughter who insisted (❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️) on being present for the surgical appointment AND the unwavering support of @mamakris from @supportsisterz. She made sure I was not alone! She decoded all the medical terminology for us during the appointment, turning it into an informative experience rather than a despairing one. Her love knows no bounds. In the coming weeks, I have decisions to make as a surgery date is pending. Here’s what I know: Whatever the storm, God will fix the situation. There has to be a time where things don’t make sense. It’s where faith gets stronger. The situation will never have power over His plan for my life. I desire for God’s work in my life to be my testimony. Let this journey serve as a reminder to all women: prioritize your health. Whether it’s conducting regular self-exams or scheduling routine mammograms, early detection can truly save lives. Let’s take charge of our well-being, spreading awareness and mutual support. I love to buy myself flowers but today these came from a sweet and appreciative client who recently had her implant swap! We’ve been working together to reduce her discomfort during the expander process and to help get her ready for this recent surgery. Today we did a little MLD work to support her post-surgical healing and some gentle head, neck, and shoulder work to remind her body that she is more than just breast cancer. These flowers fit my “goddess” vase from @roaring.spring.home perfectly and look like they were taken right from the cover of the latest issue of @wildfire_bc_magazine. 👌Hoy recibimos este precioso BMW E92 335i con motor N54B30 para devolverle la chicha que tenía allá por el 2007 cuando BMW saco el modelo, en ese momento todos los vehículos salieron un mapa motor más agresivo, dando en el banco al rededor de 320-330cv en vez de los 306cv anunciados por la marca bávara.🎉 😅Debido a numerosos problemas con la inyección directa con elementos piezoeléctricos, desde la sede se mando una campaña que consistía en una programación de la centralita, el cual se limitaba a reducir presiones de turbos, entre otros parametros, haciendo el vehiculo más dócil, más progresivo y bajando su potencia incluso por debajo de 300cv😒 😍Con esta reprogramación volvemos a cargar un mapa muy similar al que tenía el vehículo antes de ser capado pero está Stage 0 ya cuenta con todas las mejoras implementadas a nivel de software por BMW.😍 😈Aparte añadiremos la función de pedal lineal y la función Sport del sistema de refrigerante, bajando así su temperatura de trabajo.😈 🤓Antes de reprogramar siempre, como no, un pequeño análisis del vehículo con nuestra maravillosa @auteliberica.es y procedemos a iniciar la reprogramación, no sin antes conectar nuestro mantenedor de baterías lars minimizar el riesgo a la hora de escribir la centralita. A before and after look at one of our recent examples of involvement in Stage 0 restoration is the Quharity Burn, an upland, gravel-bed river located in the northeast of Scotland. Historic land management practices within the catchment have led to the straightening and confinement of large sections of the burn, with the channel lacking in physical diversity, which in turn reduces in-stream habitat, impacting the species that such habitat naturally supports. The restoration work, made possible by Kinnordy Farms Partnership and funded through NatureScot’s Nature Restoration Fund, aimed to achieve significant improvements to both in-channel and floodplain habitat (e.g. wetland habitat), downstream flood risk, water quality, and future resilience to the effects of climate change. The implemented designs have involved the reinstatement of channel-floodplain processes by re-routing the river through historic flow paths across the floodplain, as well as the addition of strategically-placed large wood through the site. As practised in the Pacific North-West of the USA, Stage 0 is both a process-based and process-reset form of restoration, focused on creating an anastomosing (i.e., multi-threaded, highly vegetated) channel-floodplain complex in naturally depositional valley bottoms where the potential for river ‘recovery’ following the removal of anthropogenic constraints is very high. Thus, factors underpinning a site’s suitability include an alluvial basin setting dominated by processes of net deposition and occurs where human impacts can be reversed/released and with valley-wide land availability. Today is the kiss goodbye to surgery! This is hopefully my last breast reconstruction revision surgery. I’ve lost count of how many surgeries I’ve had over the last five years. I’ve basically had two bilateral mastectomies, fat grafting and more. In about 30 minutes, the “paddles” from my lat flap reconstruction are being removed from my chest and the left over fat from a fat grafting surgery under my left armpit is being removed as well. This is as close to “normal” as I will ever be to who I was and what I looked like before my very first surgery on November 1, 2018. With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, I wanted to share my recent findings of a ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), also called Stage 0 Breast Cancer 🩷 I am incredibly fortunate to have found the carcinoma early, and with treatment plans being put in place, the future will shine healthy and bright 🌟 As a writer, I couldn’t not document this journey if I tried 😆 So if you’re interested, head over to my blog (link in bio) for some info on how this journey is unfolding and the knowledge I’m accumulating along the way. Did you know there’s such a thing as Stage 0 cancer?! Carcinoma “in situ” refers to abnormal cells that have not spread further than their original location. These are precancerous cells, or Stage 0 cancer, and unfortunately, they have the potential to become cancerous cells. The example in breast cancer is ductal carcinoma in situ (or DCIS), Stage 0 breast cancer. About 1 in 5 new breast cancers diagnosed will be DCIS. The good news is nearly all women at this stage can be cured. [1] It can be surprising to patients (and to me when I was a newbie nurse, to be honest) to hear that treatment recommendations for DCIS can still be pretty extensive. It can include lumpectomy (breast-conserving surgery) with or without radiation, or mastectomy, and perhaps hormone therapy. [2] You may also hear the phrase "in situ" from your artsy friends, referring to when an artist creates work at the site it's supposed to be displayed - like carving a sculpture from a rock face (Mt. It’s been nearly six months since my surgery to remove 1/2 my pancreas, my spleen, and 11 lymph nodes. My energy is great. My strength and fitness have returned. I’m managing my blood sugar well. I am more grateful than ever to be alive. Strength45 4 times each week is helping me become stronger than ever and at 56 I have no joint pain anywhere. This program is amazing! Community Flow Yoga and Hatha Flow style asana practices two times a week keep my body aligned and mobile, my mind centered and inspired, and my heart grateful. Yoga daily (practicing presence, mantra, yamas, niyamas, pratyahara, brahmavihara, and/or pranayama) guides my life. Walking in nature…often with a friend. Spinning community. Mountain biking. Hot/cold water. Organic vegetables and high quality protein. I am still healing, however. I have a drain wound that has not closed. It closed recently for two weeks, then abscessed and reopened. I’ve been wearing a bandage on this site for nearly six months. I have a “persistent drain tract”. I’ve done acupuncture, supplements, energy works, fascial work, LLLT (laser), wound specialists, antibiotics and diagnostic labs, ultrasound, CT scans. Patience is my practice. 3 years ago I was officially diagnosed with DCIS Stage 0 breast cancer. I remember that day so vividly....went into my surgeon office by myself while Russ waited in the truck. He was not allowed to go in due to COVID. She told me the results of the biopsy and confirmed that the clusters of calcifications that were tested came back malignant. I remember feeling light headed and ready to pass out but didn't. She also said that the only option was to have a mastectomy and to begin making some decisions so she could schedule the surgery. I was definitely not ready and the crazy part was that I was more afraid of the surgery than the cancer. At the time, I felt like my life as I knew it was over. That I wouldn't be the same again. Thankfully my life did return to normal and I feel like myself again. I rarely have bad days anymore. I did make some changes to reduce the risk of an reoccurrence. You are never fully cured of cancer so doing what I can.
