Last week we got a rainy start on planters… and it looks like there’s plenty more rain in the forecast 😅 while it makes it a little harder to get clean, we do a pretty good job between taking a little extra care, leaf blowing and sweeping. Enjoy your day! And this beautiful wall fountain turned planter is one of our first early summer plantings. Tucked in a protected staircase at @theconnorscenter we filled it with shade loving plants from ferns to ivy, coral heuchera to white caladium, a little alyssum, and we are trying out an orchid. It is tucked in carefully in its own pot. Planting the giant chain fern - Woodwardia fimbriata. The second slide shows its roots, which I thought were pretty cool, and look and feel different from your typical flowering plant. This one is just a baby, but the giant chain fern can get several feet tall and wide. They are native to California and like to grow in shady places near water. I want to set up a little forest scape in this shade planter and maybe even add a mini water feature. And of course if the ferns start producing spores then it’s propagation time!!!
