🐄 A very special moment of two rescues reunited! 🖤 My boy Grings alongside the gorgeous Finlay…these two were rescued together, alongside two others, back in 2014! They were nursed back to health and the 4 lived together at the rescue while they grew up. Finlay was adopted by Irene who was an integral part of the team that rescued them originally and Finlay stole her heart along the way. I volunteered at the same place in 2014 but it wasn’t until 2019 and the universe intervened and I was able to adopt Grings. To see them now together is heartwarming all these years later! Finlay actually lives at the yard I go for lessons at so this won’t be the last time they see each other! Great to see them showing what they can do! The other two who were rescued alongside them are also still happily in their homes so a happy ending for all 4 of the little coblets…though Finlay seemed to get all the height! #resucehorse #rescuepony #reunitedfriends #happyending #rescuestory #pony #ponies #ponytivity #horserescue #cobsofinstagram #cobscan #myfavouritebreedisrescued

Yarrow can be a useful oil to offer to aid in accessing unhelpful memories within the subconscious. Rose Otto can be offered to support the heart opening to release hurt and emotional pain. You are taking on a massive responsibility when offering horses emotional releasing oils and thus should be done respectfully, with adequate knowledge and slowly. Some horses for instance can not take the bottle of Yarrow being fully open so only opening a tiny bit is enough. Do not flood the horse by asking too much too soon. #zoocog #resucehorse #rehab #reiki #essentialoils #anxiety #trauma #equine

Minnie is the epitome of resilience. She ventured a long journey before finding peace and a safe haven at KHAS. When Sarah, our founder, first met Minnie, her spirit was completely broken. She was deathly afraid of humans and experienced severe abuse and neglect from being chained in a stall, forgotten in a field, to being returned multiple times after numerous failed adoptions. While at a shelter, Minnie had given up hope and was what some described as "a very sad wilted flower" 🥀 . After her last failed adoption, she was rescued by Keepers Haven Animal Sanctuary where she was paired with her lifelong friend and assisted healer, Tika (another horse sanctuary member). At Keepers Haven, Minnie is given space to trust humans again and experience endless love! Her resilience after such a rough first half of her life is a true testament towards the ability for love to heal the "invisible" wounds. Minnie now knows that she is a keeper for life! Thank you to our supporters for helping us give Minnie a safe space for the rest of her life! We beg the wonderful residents of Arizona to listen. Our imaginations were utterly captivated by visiting the Apache-Sitgreaves Forest wild horses last year, while filming them for our upcoming documentary WILD BEAUTY. These fairytale horses and their closely bonded families exist in the deep woods of this beautiful state, and now like most other wild herds across the Western U.S. - they are been targeted for unnecessary removal. Many may end up in the slaughter pipeline. Learn about what is happening right now, and a lawsuit that has been filed. Read the longer version of the press release on our Facebook. Please call your local TV stations and ask them to cover this - for tomorrow is a vastly important day in court for the groups fighting. The repetitive false narrative being used by federal agencies to decimate wild horses in favor of special interests must end. www.facebook.com/wildbeautyfoundation . . . On behalf of the International Society for the Protection of Mustangs and Burros (ISPMB), the FR Law Group of Phoenix, Arizona served the U.S. Forest Service for declaratory relief on June 28th to stop the removal of the wild horses that have been living on the Apache side in the Apache-Sitgreaves Forest for over 100 years. In defiance of the lawsuit, the Forest Service, Alpine Ranger District, has removed the first group of wild horses from the Apache Forest in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest. The organization was granted an immediate temporary restraining order from the court to stop the sale of these horses that are destined to be sold to the highest bidder, meaning slaughter. The Department of Justice has refused to allow ISPMB access to these horses to determine the condition of these animals after illegally removing them from their homeland. These horses facing ‘sale for slaughter’ are no doubt facing even more deplorably frightening conditions in their own eyes. . . . The nightmare tragically continues at the Piceance East Douglas Basin HMA, as the unnecessary and aggressive roundup in Colorado targets approximately 750 wild horses for removal, despite outcry from the public and lawmakers. We thank Congressman Joe Neguse for just introducing this powerful amendment. “I am deeply concerned about BLM moving forward with these roundups. We must reevaluate and reconsider the methods in which we manage these herds, ensuring that we are doing so cost-effectively and humanely.” said Congressman Neguse. Read more: http://neguse.house.gov/media/press-releases/rep-neguse-introduces-amendment-to-restrict-federal-wild-horse-roundups We applaud photographers like @wilsonaxpe for documenting these atrocities when other organizations cannot be on the ground. @repjoeneguse

We are now running this ad in Colorado, in light of the start of roundup season which will strip away the freedom of thousands of horses and their families. Thank you Colorado @govofco and @firstgentmarlonreis for being so outspoken. We request everyone tag their lawmakers on social media over 4th of July weekend, either by re-posting this photo, or simply your favorite photograph of a wild horse. As many of you now know, about one month ago we rescued a young wild horse who is now called “Whisper of the Wild”. She was abandoned by her owner, emaciated, and very scared. Her new adopter is our friend, WBF Ambassador, and Black Beauty star Mackenzie Foy who has now taken Whisper into her life. The connection between these two souls is truly extraordinary, and Whisper arrived in California just a few days ago! While she has a long road of healing ahead of her, Whisper will do so with one of the most gracious and caring people we have ever met. One of our favorite mottos is: every life matters. And that’s because it does. This beautiful young horse was left behind by her owner, and would have ended up facing an unimaginable fate in the slaughter pipeline had we had not been alerted to her presence. And thanks to many of you, we were able to rescue her. Rescue horses are still horses, first and foremost. They are individual lives and souls that deserve so much more than a fate which is very hard to even describe. They all deserve a second chapter at life, and a chance at happiness and love, just like Whisper.
Listen to the words of @mackenizefoy and @ashleyavis in this video taken by @kimerlee.curyl.wildhorses on the day of Whisper’s arrival!
Thank you for standing with wild horses, being part of our community, and we cannot wait to see the beautiful chapter between Whisper and Mackenzie unfold!

WBF is excited to give you some good news for your Friday! Yesterday, the Save America’s Forgotten Equines (SAFE) Act officially advanced through the House Subcommittee within the Energy and Commerce Committee. This act closes loopholes in the slaughter pipeline and permanently bans transport of horses to slaughter. Acts like these will save not only the wild horses and burros we fight to keep out of the system, but domestic equines that are abandoned to suffer the same fate. Advancement of this act is a huge step in the right direction for the protection of America’s horses. The SAFE Act currently has 218 sponsors in the legislature and received backing this week in the House Committee on Appropriations. This issue also received bipartisan support in the House, which provides a good opportunity for the historic legislation to pass. With each step forward, this act gets closer to seeing the Senate and House’s legislative action. We at WBF thank the representatives involved in advancing the SAFE Act through the House, and we encourage the conversation about banning this horrible practice in our country to continue. #istandwithwildhorses #wildhorses #passthesafeact #wildbeautyspirit

I am overwhelmed with joy this morning to announce a very special adoption. As many of you know, Ed and I founded The Wild Beauty Foundation, working with children, raising awareness, and rescuing horses in need. And as of this week, a young filly named “Whisper of the Wild” has come into the life of Mackenize Foy, our dear friend, and the star of Black Beauty. For the past month we have been rehabilitating Whisper, a three year old wild filly who was abandoned to a kill pen in Louisiana in an abused and emaciated state (scroll to see photos from just over 30 days ago). After the first images of Whisper were sent to us by one of our adopters, we immediately jumped in to save her. Thanks to the help and support of our friends and partners - we were able to get Whisper out of that kill pen overnight and to a safe place where she could start healing again. The spark was back in her eye almost immediately. Like many horses, she just knew. “They say horses pick you,” is a line from Black Beauty, and it has now come to life in this extraordinarily beautiful adoption. Whisper has now safely arrived in California and is one of the kindest, gentlest, loving horses we have ever met. On the very first day at her new home, she put her head right in Mackenize’s hands and Mackenize wrapped her arms around her. The connection was undeniable and immediate.
This journey between Whisper and Mackenize will be a special one, and we are so grateful to Mackenize and her family for taking this wild young soul into their lives. We also hope this adoption will help raise critical awareness and will inspire others to bring rescue horses, both wild and domestic, into their care. Mackenize will be documenting their journey along the way, which we will be posting as these two get to know one another. We cannot wait to share more, and want to voice a grateful thanks to fine art photographer and friend Kimerlee Curyl, for taking the time to come with us to capture these moments. With happy tears in my eyes today, I am so proud to do this work, and to stand with wild horses. @wildbeautyspirit @mackenziefoy @ashleyavis @emwin3 @kimerleecuryl.wildhorsephotos

Some good news for your Friday: an update on Whisper! This is the little wild mare we rescued from a kill pen in Louisiana a few weeks ago, rounded up in 2019 and abandoned by her owner in an emaciated state. She is now doing so much better, putting weight on, has had vaccinations and tests. The transformation in just a few weeks is extraordinary and the spark is clearly back in her eye. Thank you to all of you who have contributed toward, or have shared her journey. Every life matters. We will post more updates on Whisper (now known as "Whisper of the Wild") very soon!

We are so proud of WBF Youth Advocate, eleven-year-old Jocelyn M. who did a presentation this week on behalf of wild horses, kindness, and empathy toward animals and each other for her school. For this project where kids became “living sculptures” of one of their heroes, such as Kings and Queens, astronauts and athletes - Jocelyn decided to embody the spirit of legendary horse whisperer @monty_roberts. We are so proud of you, Jocelyn! You truly embody the wild beauty spirit.

Happy birthday to a very special wild horse. Throughout our documentary journey, we hoped to feature certain horses in the film, to bring forth the personal issues they face. We also found it deeply important to identify these horses as the individuals they are. This organically happened over four years of constructing the film, as we visited different herds over many different states across the Western U.S., and Stargazer (a well known stallion of Onaqui in Utah) became one of the characters we decided to follow and highlight. Our hearts soared watching Stargazer for years in the wild, battling with other stallions or nuzzling with his favorite mare, Nora. He captivated our imaginations with his bravery, his beauty, and also his exquisite gentleness. Our hearts broke as we watched Stargazer and his family get rounded up in July 2021 during the unnecessary and unjust roundup of the Onaqui by the Bureau of Land Management. We filmed with tears in our eyes as so many members of this beloved herd faded away into a cloud of dust. We cried openly seeing Stargazer and the other Onaqui get loaded into the trucks. We watched in horror and silence when our tears ran out, and they were dragged away in a semi. We filmed with quiet fury at the holding facility in Delta, documenting the unutterable and inhumane conditions the horses were forced to live in. Water pooling everywhere. Deep mud up to their forelocks. Cramped enclosures. Injuries. Worse. The eyes of our beloved Onaqui clouded, their spirits shattered. Trickles of hope, but also waves of sadness, began seeping back as the auction loomed. Who would get adopted? Who would be left behind? Which families would get to stay together? Likely not many. It was a joy and a relief to finally see Stargazer and Nora be adopted together by someone we adore and trust. And now, we join in celebrating Stargazer’s 9th birthday. He is no longer wild, but if you look into his eyes like we have many times: his spirit has been freed. Remember this special rescue horse? The second photo in this post of "Solo" was sent to us by one of our adopters, Amber, last year in July of 2021 - and these other images are now Solo today. We heard about him while on the road filming our upcoming documentary, after Amber thankfully saw a post about him online, and sent us images of this poor horse, with tires strapped to his back, and a sign that said "Horse 4 Sale". It didn't even seem real. But it was. Thanks in large part to Amber, we worked through the evening to rescue Solo and were able to get him to a safe place overnight with our nonprofit partner in Texas. It was a stressful 24 hours that included a grave worry that Solo would end up being sold to a kill buyer, instead of being adopted by us. Solo's journey, like many rescued horses, has not been a simple or linear one. He underwent trauma that was no fault of his own, he had his own personality quirks, and it took some time for him to settle in. But now, almost a year later, look at these extraordinary photos of a horse who has finally found his happiness, his place, his home, and even his very own girl. We are so proud of you, Solo. Some rescued horses, whether they are wild or domestic, may need extra time to trust, to heal, to learn, and grow. Please give them that time, and you may in turn be given an extraordinary gift… their heart. #istandwithwildhorses #rescuehorse #wildbeautyspirit

A potentially historic afternoon. The U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce discussed the safety of wild and domestic horses today and shutting down the pipeline that sends American horses slaughter. You can watch the entire hearing via the link below. Or, type in "Legislative Hearing to Protect Consumers and Strengthen the Economy" into YouTube! We have been volunteering at a horse rescue ranch near by for the last 6 months. The kids have been such hard workers! It has been so good to be able to give them good old fashion hardwork. It has been great to give back by volunteering and be blessed by learning and working with horses. #kidsvolunteering #resucehorse #hardwork #kidsworkinghard
