This Shenandoah Pyrex Set caught my eye from across the room. Shuffling through endless items looking for anything of interest, the delicate green vining on the soft yellow was like seeing a butterfly flutter in front of me. I was elated to find the casserole to match my stacking bowls, making this a home cookware essential. Link to purchase in my bio. As one of the last patterns to exist in the opal Pyrex line, Shenandoah is one of the lesser-known patterns released to the consumer market. The collection was small and only released on the three-piece Mixing Bowl set (300-80), the Cinderella Bowl set (440-80), the three-piece Bake, Serve and Store set (470-80), and the three-piece Casserole set (480). A four-quart casserole dish was added to the collection in the mid-1980s. As the popularity of CorningWare and Corelle Tableware grew, interest in the Pyrex patterned opal ware declined. By 1986, when production on all opal Pyrex ceased, Shenandoah was one of four patterns being made. Couple hints for everyone... never start saying you feel old. The minute you do, you're done. Remain forever young at heart. Don't get too wrapped up in politics or religion. They're old systems meant to keep people divided and in line. Rise above and look at things from a bigger view. You can't save everybody. Humans are gonna do what they want ultimately. Point out patterns and potential pitfalls, but don't expect people to see or move. It's their job to use the info... or not. Worry about yourself and your family/friends more and what strangers think about or are doing less. Lastly, try not to take any of this too seriously. None of us are making it out of this alive! 😂 I know I should take things more seriously... maybe in another 50 years once I get toward middle age. Have you ever seen a #pyrex #bigbertha in person? I can’t even tell you the mix of emotions that went through my mind when I saw her. She was on the top shelf and I thought, “What’s that…no it couldn’t be…but it is…BERTHA!” 🤩🍀😍 Not only did she have her lid, but her #butterflygold pattern is in almost mint condition. But…can I tell you a secret? 🤫🫣🤭 I dropped her lid at the store. I pulled her from the top shelf, and I was so excited to have her, the lid slipped off as I rushed from the booth and made a loud “CRASH!” I looked up at the woman in the booth across from me, us making eye contact and silently giggling as I picked up the undamaged lid and scurried off. It’s always so fun to come across a #pyrexpromotional item! This is both from the #pyrex promotional line as well as a #designer Pyrex item. It is a promotional pattern that came with a rattan trivet and was produced in 1978. Pyrex designer 4078 Daisy 1 qt covered round casserole with Rattan Trivet. The product description from Pyrex reads: A beautiful and practical gift. A sparkling accent for any table. Custom Designed trivet for an elegant buffet warm colors in harmony with today’s interiors. Unofficially known as Daisy Silhouette, Daisy had a light yellow background with a pattern of large orange outlined daisies indicative of the “Flower Power” movement started in the late-1960s. Daisy Silhouette was a part of the “Designer Collection,” released simultaneously in 1978 with Terra Cotta Rose, Dynasty, Spices and Wheat. This Shenandoah Pyrex Set caught my eye from across the room. Shuffling through endless items looking for anything of interest, the delicate green vining on the soft yellow was like seeing a butterfly flutter in front of me. I was elated to find the casserole to match my stacking bowls, making this a home cookware essential. Link to purchase in my bio. As one of the last patterns to exist in the opal Pyrex line, Shenandoah is one of the lesser-known patterns released to the consumer market. The collection was small and only released on the three-piece Mixing Bowl set (300-80), the Cinderella Bowl set (440-80), the three-piece Bake, Serve and Store set (470-80), and the three-piece Casserole set (480). A four-quart casserole dish was added to the collection in the mid-1980s. As the popularity of CorningWare and Corelle Tableware grew, interest in the Pyrex patterned opal ware declined. By 1986, when production on all opal Pyrex ceased, Shenandoah was one of four patterns being made. It is rare and uncommon to find English Pyrex pieces in the U.S., and I was elated to find this pieces. It sat on the bottom shelf of a busy bookcase in a middle-of-nowhere thrift store. My eyes widened and my hands reached for it in childlike wonderment. It’s a joy to find beauty in these retro pieces with craftsmanship from another time! History of English Pyrex: JAJ Pyrex goes back to 1921 as a Sunderland-based glass manufacturer that sought to reinvent their glass-making practices through licensing Pyrex’s shatter-proof and oven-proof glassware. JAJ stands for J A Joblings, with the Joblings family producing Pyrex pieces marked as Made in England under the Pyrex name for 50 years until 1973. In 1973, JAJ lost their license and Corning usurped the company in producing “Pyrex England” stamped products. The pattern pictured here is known as “Country Autumn” or “Woodland Country Autumn”. It began production in 1985 as a Corning-Pyrex product after the defunct JAJ lost their Pyrex license and folded under Corning.
