Day 114 of selecting the morning coffee tunes record from the 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die book…… Kilimanjaro by The Teardrop Explodes from 1980. It was their first album and contains updated versions of their early singles Sleeping Gas, Bouncing Babies, Treason and When I Dream. This version of the album also includes the hit Reward. Day 97 of selecting the morning coffee tunes record from the 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die…… Fleetwood Mac’s Tusk from 1979 - quite possibly the most over packaged record in history, a double album with each inner sleeve having its own inner sleeve. It was always going to be a mammoth task to follow up the monster hit that was Rumours but this album does it admirably. Not always a popular opinion but over the years I’ve come to prefer this album over its predecessor. Day 95 of selecting the morning coffee tunes record from the 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die…… Arrival by ABBA from 1976. This Aussie version has the hit single Fernando shoehorned onto side two making 11 tracks rather than the 10 listed in the book, as did the New Zealand version to capitalise on the songs current chart success. ABBA were huge in Australia around this time, Fernando was number one on the singles charts for what seemed like forever and you couldn’t turn on the radio without hearing a song from this record - Dancing Queen, Money Money Money and Knowing Me Knowing You were also huge hits. I can’t remember the last time this album got played and it’s fair to say it’ll be a while before it gets played again but it’s in my collection and in the book so it gets a spin…..
