I told mom she needs to hurry up and finish painting the trim on this back patio. Obviously she didn't listen to me as we know have 2 bird families, carolina wrens, (pic 2) nesting in the speaker boxes despite dads best efforts at getting them birdhouses (pic 3). So, the mounting of the new ceiling fans will have to wait for a month or so as these birds have dug into their new location. Painting in the forest is a challenge as the light changes very quickly. There are moments that make you say “wow I want to paint that” but just as you finish setting up your easel and look up everything’s changed. Occasionally the light will come back but you really have to have a mental picture of the original scene in your head so you don’t lose your way. This moment was all about the light bouncing off the trail back up into the shadow of the tree. It’s a beautiful effect that warms and illuminates the bark.
