Начинаю я с @artobject_ulyanakhokhlova ❤️которую знаю уже давно как удивительного мастера работы с картоном. Я начала с картона, тактика именно он позволит мне предать смысл поверхностям и фактуре. В New Yorik картон отвечал за две важные смысловые фактуры: землю и камень. Столешница - это кладбище, с 8 могилами героев. Ее поверхность должна передавать тепло, должна “дышать”. Кроме этого, была чисто техническая задача. Фарфоровые шарики должны фиксироваться в любом месте стола. Вторая задача - ножки, которые были задуманы как менгиры - ритуальные камни. Концептуально - через ножки проходят герои, которые после смерти попадают на праздник Йорика. Фактура камня отличается от земли, и Ульяне удалось это передать. Третьей задачей стали шармы на ножках Happy Yorik. Это фирменный почерк Ульяны, отсыл к русским декоративным элементам. А Счастливый Йорик у нас играет, выдумывает. A Gio Ponti designed brass encased ceramic tile/penholder. __Manufactured by Roma Ceramice. In the 1960s a number of these encased tiles were presented to the personnel and dignitaries at the opening ceremony of the new Bijenkorf (beehive) department store building in Eindhoven when it opened in 1969. The building and its spectacular facade were designed by Italian architect Gio Ponti (1891-1979) who designed the buildings extensive facade using multiples of these tiles. His design was inspired by his view of the Dutch countryside as viewed from the aircraft when he flew there from Italy. The brass casing is inscribed with the details of the presentation. . I made a series of artworks inspired by portable altar boxes, of which DETOXIFY ME, was probably the most successful. I was thinking about historic faith in cures and parallels with contemporary ones. Externally by box is swathed in a seaweed wrap. Inside the left hand panel shows a contemporary golden woman nestled on a super-food bed of blueberries and curly kale. Above her are sprigs of St, John's Work and raspberries. Fragments of mining - LIAS "Fragments of mining" is a collection of the fragments of quarrying, derived from the different potentials found in the three major sedimentary layers of the Swabian Jura; I.Lias, II.Dogger and III.Malm. For each layer a separate working part was developed. The first part of the work, which is about the lowest rock layer of the Alb, the Black Jura, deals with the stone broken by nature and its reification through design practice. Various conspicuous features and phenomena are assembled collage-like through our furniture-typological perception into 6 objects made of different fragments and staged in an installation. The resulting objects relate to and elude the typology of furniture. They do not specify a concrete use, nor do they pretend to carry any use at all in the classical sense. As a quotation from museum suspensions of fossils, metal connectors were designed to join the fragments of the stones together. As part of the @vamuseum Make Good programme, I produced a narrative based installation, turned from #growninbritain certified, green timber. Here, I propose contemplation on the concepts of balance and imbalance. The nature of our relationship towards woodland, and the ways in which we utilise the timber they give us, is in a state of unsustainable imbalance. I believe that to heal this, we as a culture must nurture a reverence and heartfelt respect for trees and forests. Otherwise change will be short lived and superficial. But how can we ask this of people, when 70% of our woodlands are privately owned and inaccessible? It seems our basic connection to our wooded landscape is in itself out of balance. Is it any wonder that trees and timber have been commodified to that of monetary value alone - their status as a key stone species, beings onto which the survival of all others depend. Dec 2021 Frightening Little Creatures Instead of letting the audience find creatures they’re scared of in a place insect usually appears, in bushes or under rocks, I want to try to guide them to put eyes on an unexpected place. I found that dining table would be a good choice. When we are having meal and found a fly or any other kind of insect in sight, we inevitably doubt the cleanliness of this dining environment, which could also deepen the aversion of insects. However, in a fancy restaurant, people usually won’t expect insects would appear. What if they find insects are laying at the bottom of their nearly finished dish? How would they react? I think it is interesting to create an object that could stimulate the audience’s curiosity and desire to explore, even if the final result may not be satisfactory for them. I first met Steven in February 2008 when he participated in our designboom mart exhibition in Stockholm - a cultural group show of 40 designers from all over the world. Many of us stayed in touch and in a way we remain a family — or many families — that are spread all over the world. And sometimes our paths cross again, which is really nice! Like in this case… The works of Chicago-based artist and industrial designer Steven Haulenbeek passes by the typical and seeks to invent unique production methods through which objects emerge organically. Once his grandfather’s and worn by @edward_rhys_jones until it was close to giving way at the shoulders and liberally peppered with snags and holes. . When Ed talked to me about this jumper it was so clear that it functioned as a continuing bond between him and a much loved grandfather. . I’ve added duplicate stitch to the cabling at the back - with some of my own hand-spun grey Shetland yarn - and weave darns to the holes. The duplicate stitch has reinforced the weakened and stretched areas. It will be in the post tomorrow and I’m hopeful Ed will enjoy wearing it, and all that this means, for many years to come. . I am way behind with repairs. This is from the waiting room of my ‘In Kind’ project and I have especially enjoyed working on it for witnessing Ed’s love for his grandfather and his own children.
