Calling rural artists in the Upper Midwest — Applications are now open for Springboard's 2024–26 Rural Regenerator Fellowship! We are excited to announce that this year’s Fellowship will focus on supporting artists whose work is connected to land, environment, and/or food systems. Rural artists who are using their creative practice to explore environmental justice, land and food sovereignty, agriculture, foodways, climate solutions, and/or sustainability are welcome to apply. We will select 12 fellows total. What the two-year Fellowship offers: - Unrestricted $10,000 stipend to continue or expand rural artist's existing work. - Opportunities for exchange and learning with other Rural Regenerator Fellows across the Upper Midwest. - A supportive platform to build solidarity across rural geographies. These works often resisted any sense of depth, but in the following decade, Stella would go on to create exuberant works like this, composed of brightly painted cones and other shapes that extend beyond the surface of the rectangle behind it. Here is a flashback to May 5, 2016. On this day 8 years ago I exhibited my artwork in Chicago, IL for the very first time. I had a great experience participating in the 14th Annual Art in Motion Exhibition at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. My painting “Slight Interest” was included in this exhibit that was juried by James Rondeau of the Art Institute of Chicago. Having the opportunity to display my artwork in an exhibit in a big city for the first time really pushed me to keep pursuing big opportunities! Since this photograph was taken I’ve exhibited locally, regionally, nationally & internationally. CSPS Hall Art Exhibition CSPS Hall in Cedar Rapids, Iowa kicked off the 2024 Iowa Pop Art Festival on Friday, May 3, 2024 with an exhibition entitled, “where the artificial ends: an Iowa Pop Art exhibition”.
