#32: Two weeks until Kendra plays @rustandwax ! Her latest came out last August, and it improves on her previous record with a greater variety of styles and relatable songwriting. There are a few midtempo numbers that demonstrate the range of Morris' voice, which at times is reminiscent of Chaka Khan, with her power and dexterity. The packaging of this album is also fantastic: the gatefold jacket has two sleeves--one for the record and another for a full-size color lyric booklet. The limited edition vinyl is gorgeous, too. Brighter Days Ahead - Various artists from @coleminerecords (2021) When Covid happened it brought on many, many terrible days. Such a scary, depressing and uncertain time. This compilation was created to help brighten those times with the love that music can bring. “So the idea was to release individual tracks from many of our artists on a weekly basis and as a musical family, we could all help shine light on each individual artist weekly. Strength in numbers! So throughout the summer and into the fall, that’s what we did. We released several dozen tracks and the weekly announcements certainly garnered a strong sense of community for our artists and fans alike.” Such a lovely album that brings on all the good feels.
