April 16 I had to go to the social security office because they scheduled interviews and I didn’t get the notice about the interview until two weeks after. They really try to set this up so you can’t get social security or try to set you up so it gets canceled. Thankfully I got it all fixed. March 29 Last year I got pictures of Kimberly with the Easter bunnies that Arron has bought me the last few years. A tradition his dad did with him and now he’s continuing with Kimberly. March 20 Today was Kimberly’s checkup with the pediatrician. Unfortunately it’s time for more vaccines. But we trust scientists and our doctors. Whatever vaccines they want to give her we do. We need to do what will protect her little half of a heart. She was also able to get the covid vaccination finally. She had to wait 6 months since her heart was on bypass. It doesn’t seem like it has been over 6 months since her open heart surgery (Glenn procedure). March 14 Kimberly is in “Pitter Patter” from Little Frugals Bamboo again today. She stays in pajamas usually until after her nap. One of the many reasons I love this brand of bamboo pajamas is the material. Because of Kimberly’s heart, she gets overheated very easily and will sweat, a lot. I have noticed when she is wearing these pjs, her body doesn’t sweat. Her head will still be sweaty and her hair damp from it, but not her body. Her onesies and clothes would always be so wet from all of her sweat. Any other parent to heart babies should really check out Little Frugals Bamboo and try a set of pjs. Well also she has two piece sets, not just zipper ones. Whenever Kimberly has her open heart surgery she will either have her incision glued shut or staples. So there cannot be any zippers near the incision while it heals. March 11 Like I have said a million times. Kimberly is absolutely in love with Bluey. Who am I kidding, the entire house is. My mom (Kimberly’s Mimi) will sit and watch it with her. March Kimberly is wearing the Bluey pajamas from LFG called “Dance Mode.” She absolutely loves the camera. I hope she stays like this and doesn’t care about this Instagram I made. I don’t want to be labeled as one of those moms who constantly post pictures/videos of their kids for likes and attention. I made this to document her heart journey. Also for other parents to see it’s not as dark and scary as the doctors make it seem when you first hear those words “There is a problem.” I will never forget that 20 week ultrasound and then sending us to get the fetal echocardiogram. The cardiologist told us she will never be able to play sports and we would have to be very careful. That is if she lives that long. Termination was offered and we had to weigh what to do. If our child was only going to suffer and be hooked up to machines then I didn’t want that, I didn’t want to be selfish. But here she is. Over a year old and surprising every single doctor. I post these pictures for parents to see it’s not going to be dark and doctor appointments and medications all the time. March 5 Part Two Today Kimberly went to see the Easter Bunny. Though this is her second Easter, we didn’t go see the Easter Bunny last year. She has just came home from her 5 week stay in the pediatric cardiac ICU on April 3, 2023 (Easter was April 9). Also she had the ngtube and her oxygen monitor so I didn’t want to make the person playing the Easter bunny uncomfortable and nervous. Perfect print for late winter/early spring since that’s usually the only time Southern California gets rain. Kimberly is also enjoying some of her new toys from family. March 2 Today is the day we are celebrating Kimberly’s birthday with family. We decided to go to Mega Bites, a pizza place in town. Kimberly seemed to have a wonderful time. We got a Bluey cake from Walmart and it came with a free smash cake, so she got another cake to play with. My sister Michelle sent some presents from the list on Amazon, I wrapped them in purple wrapping paper since that’s her favorite color. My sister Melinda and her son Thomas came and got Kimberly some Bluey toys and clothes. Kimberly absolutely adores her cousin Thomas. Elizabeth and her boyfriend came and Kimberly got some more gorgeous dresses that her mom makes and some books and a Bluey stuffie that Kimberly absolutely loves. And then of course my parents were there. I regret not getting a picture of all of us. We are very thankful for the family Kimberly has in her life and the presents they got her. February 29 Because of Kimberly’s heart surgeries she is behind on some milestones. She finally understands the pinching with your thumb and index finger to pick up food. She has just grabbed by her hand for so long. This morning she actually grabbed the graham cracker correctly for the first time. She is wearing “Happy Packages” from Little Frugals Bamboo I have matching pants. Now I know why Arron has lived in the football ones since I gave him them on Valentines Day. February 28 Since we had to drive to Temecula to go to Build-a-Bear, that meant we got to go out to lunch. We went to Lucille’s Smokehouse BBQ for the first time. The food was amazing, but the service was even better. The waitresses were absolutely fantastic and were so sweet and caring. It reminded me of my mom and how she treated her customers when she was a waitress for so many years. We will definitely be back. February 26 Kimberly had her appointment with the GI specialist today. Since she is turning a year old, her formula needs to be changed. The doctor cannot believe how big she is and how she is thriving. To think in two days Kimberly will be one. When she was born, we had no idea what was going to happen. And here she is, without a GTube (a lot of heart babies have one), eating her bottle so well, gaining weight and growing so quickly. We had no idea how “healthy” she was going to end up. Unfortunately we are behind on solids. Kimberly still has issues swallowing and will get scared and makes herself throw up. The doctor said there is no rush on solid foods. Keep feeding her the formula and purées and doing what I am doing because everything I am doing has gotten her to this point. I ordered this shirt for Kimberly’s birthday. We are going to celebrate her birthday at home on the 28th. Then I wanted to actually go do something so we picked Mega Bites here in town for March 2. February 16 We went shopping today. I have tried to sit Kimberly up in the cart before and she was still too small and couldn’t hold herself up. Now that she can sit unassisted and is getting stronger everyday, when we were leaving Walmart I thought oh let me try. She sits perfectly in the cart. She was so happy and proud of herself too.
