I came across a quote by Charles Spurgeon and want to debunk this myth in light of God’s perspective. The quote was: “The church does not determine what the Bible teaches; the Bible determines what the church must teach.” At first glance that may seem right, so you may be wondering why I would call it a myth. It is a myth, because the statement shifts the empowerment away from the anointing that works with God-appointed living stewards onto the dead letter of the text. The reality is, that scripture apart from sound instruction can be misinterpreted in many ambiguous ways, therefore God provides stewardship, equipped with a measure of grace to accurately unfold the Bible according to the blueprint of truth taught by His living apostles. Even before the cannon of books that we know as the Bible was there, God spoke to His stewards and prophets to direct His people in their understanding of the holy scriptures; first with Israel and then to the church at large through apostles - by the revelation of His Spirit in grace, which always gave direction to the Israelites/the church according to His terms. It’s no different today. Quotes, like the one by Spurgeon, bear a deceptive perception which has left believers severely broken and abused by ministers who have taken the text of the Bible in whatever direction they chose, having not been properly instructed themselves, they have left believers ill equipped for battle by the lack of wholesome truth. THIS is the reason why we have over 45,000 Christian denominations worldwide, each selecting their own interpretation from the Bible, replacing the living Word of God, Jesus Christ Himself, with the written word, which is blasphemy. Jesus established a new covenant and spiritual priesthood, which He sanctified by blood, for the redemption of our soul. Today, once more, God has raised up living apostles to instruct believers in the ordered knowledge of the gospel (apostles’ doctrine) to give structure and function for faith in the ordered activity of the Holy priesthood; to rejoice in the accurate unfolding of the Bible by the measure of Christ’s true foundation set within. ~ Apostle Catie van der Walt #l #lies

How do you define a good sermon? Do you pay attention and use discernment when it comes to sermons preached in your church? You must, because it is a command from God; the Bible commands us not to believe everything we hear but “test spirits, for many false prophets have gone out into the world” (1 John 4:1-6). It is important to make sure that the “voice of God” we “hear” from preachers is the “voice” of His Word, which is the true voice of God. Preachers might sound eloquent and even entertaining, but do they teach the Word rightly, if they do at all? Or, perhaps, they distract you with their life stories which you do enjoy more than the Bible stories. Self-centered, personal-story “preaching” might be what we feel good about, but the good sermon is the one that is GOD-CENTERED. If you are a Christian, your life is not about you anymore. It is about God and obeying Him. It is not about a fresh revelation with your name on it; it is about what God has already revealed in His Word. Seek to know the true Jesus of the Scripture. During a walk we took this morning we discussed various topics of scripture and people that we had spoken to during the previous week and my Husband recalled a particular talk He had with a guy He was working with. It’s not only a once off situation either, this kind of “disregarding of truth” happens often amongst believers. This person has been in the faith for nearly their whole life, securely rooted in the Sunday church agenda and doesn’t like to think outside the box of the organization's doctrine. My husband has been talking to him for a while and this week revealed some biblical truth regarding Sunday worship.. and even though this guy read the scriptures at hand and realized the truth, still had the audacity to reply “Well anyways I prefer keeping Sunday”, confirming that it wasn't what YAHs word said that mattered but rather more what he wanted to do and what suited his lifestyle, simply not prepared to change his lifestyle to obey the Word of God, but would continue living in the false doctrines taught by the church wilfully. Sadly this is true for many, just like the scriptures say “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears (2 Tim 4:3). When we talk about Pearls in the bible we refer to the precious truths about YAH and His Kingdom, but many simply suppress these truths in order to keep their particular lifestyle habits; eating unclean foods, attending sundays and keeping traditions and commandments of men. Scripture tells us that we are of God and that he that knoweth God heareth us, but he that is not of God heareth not us (1 John 4:6); we can expect that not everyone that claims to believe will hear the truth.. because some are simply not of God but rather role playing or treating the faith as a lucky charm. For centuries man has created their “own” to suit their lifestyle.. hence way we have so many different denominations.. all trying to alter the Word in a way that suits them. When we first came into the faith we attended many different congregations in the hope of finding the truth, but what we found was lies, false doctrines, a respect of persons and filthy lucre. We went from JW’s, to Baptist, various Pentecostal that we walked out of after 10 minutes, another Baptist, then a home church, but the truth was not found. We found that “Church” teaches you:- The corrupt Sabbath:- Straight off the bat you fall into the routine of Sunday worship which is nothing but a mark of the Roman Catholic Authority which claims to have the power to change the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday. LIES!!! False doctrines:- Whatever the Pastor says, even if he’s been in the faith 10, 20 or even 40 years… TEST EVERYTHING!!! There are many false prophets gone out into the world which will deceive many. Respect of persons:- Don’t give anyone a different level of respect.. We’re all part of the body of Christ and all have different parts to play, no one is “better” than another. Traditions and Commandments of men:- The “church” keeps you stuck in pagan celebrations of Easter, Christmas, and Halloween, but prevent you from keeping YAHs Biblically commanded Feasts. Filthy Lucre:- They teach you that being a “cheerful giver” is about giving money to the church; Scripture tells us that being a cheerful giver is about spreading the word freely. Social Gatherings:- They will help you form friendships, BUT at a cost… Many that attend church hold onto false doctrines over fear of losing social ties… ultimately choosing “friends” over God's Word. Yet Catholics do not believe they are committing idolatry. They have been cleverly taught to believe that they do not worship these idols; they simply “venerate” them. As we pray, we must keep loving them and trust that God will prepare the soil of their hearts (Luke 8:11-15). Never give up hope; the Holy Spirit does miracles every day. The Bible is absolutely clear that we are to worship God alone. The only instances of anyone other than God receiving worship in the Bible are false gods, which are Satan and his demons. All followers of the Lord God refuse worship. Peter and the apostles refused to be worshiped (Acts 10:25–26; 14:13–14). The holy angels refuse to be worshiped (Revelation 19:10; 22:9). The response is always the same, “Worship God!” Roman Catholics attempt to “bypass” these clear Scriptural principles by claiming they do not “worship” Mary or saints, but rather that they only “venerate” Mary and the saints. Using a different word does not change the essence of what is being done. A definition of “venerate” is “to regard with respect or reverence.” Nowhere in the Bible are we told to revere anyone but God alone. There is nothing wrong with respecting those faithful Christians who have gone before us (see Hebrews chapter 11). There is nothing wrong with honoring Mary as the earthly mother of Jesus. The Bible describes Mary as “highly favored” by God (Luke 1:28). At the same time, there is no instruction in the Bible to revere those who have gone to heaven. “Your trying to earn your salvation”, “There’s nothing you need to do”, “It’s a free gift to those who believe”, “You cant lose your salvation”; I’ve heard it all before.. for those of you stuck on these doctrines I suggest you read your scriptures and not be swayed by false doctrines of men, the scriptures clearly tell us something different. Through his epistles we can certainly perceive the apostle Paul as being a very focused, determined, tough fellow that stands to endure much and standing firm in his faith; and his comparison of running a race to the walk in faith is right on the mark. In 1 Corinthians 9:24 Paul writes “Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain”; Here he teaches us that there are many believers in a running to receive eternal life but that not all who strive will enter through the gates into the Kingdom of God. Just as Matthew 24:14 says - For many are called, but few are chosen. Just because you declare “I believe” does not mean you are sealed for the Kingdom; it simply means you have been offered the gift of salvation, but now you must hold onto it and respond to that faith with good works, and endure to the end; as Paul also says, you need to “Fight the good fight of faith”.
