Take a seat and enjoy the coastal New England life. Earlier this year during the winter I stumbled across some beach homes in Charlestown,RI and ever since then I’ve found myself paying more attention to homes that I’d like to photograph. Crazy that I’ve come to be interested in photographing homes because I use to think that wasn’t me and same for cars but if they are classic styles and go well with a scene then I’m taking the shot! I have been asked by a few if I’m worried about someone coming out to tell me off or if I feel weird photographing a home with people in them. Well most of the homes I photograph are not occupied early in the year because most are beach/summer homes. I’m yet to photograph with people home so I haven’t been there yet with confrontation but I don’t think I ever will be confronted because I won’t go on peoples property and if there’s cars in the drive way I won’t be interested. Honestly if someone does confront me I’ll just say I’m an outdoor photographer and I like to photograph homes. Most people that confront me though while I’m photographing landscapes typically will talk to me about a scene or ask what I’m visualizing. It’s rare but sometimes I get a negative comment from someone , I just ignore it and keep doing what I’m doing. Having confidence in yourself and not having the anxiety while photographing in public comes just from experience and repetition of getting out there. Watch Hill lighthouse under a faded pink sky⚓️ With living in Westerly I mainly photograph on the side that is Avondale/Watch Hill. I do get sick of the areas quite a bit haha but after a break from a trip or a few days rest I actually find new compositions to capture. I’ve been photographing these areas for almost 5yrs and i still manage to find new compositions like the photo above. Cumpleaños 31 🥳 Y cómo lo festejé este año? Con un ✨Twilight Road-trip✨ me lancé manejando desde Portland al “lugar más húmedo de los Estados Unidos” (perfecta descripción de Edward Cullen) y además me tocó fin de semana lluvioso, la experiencia completa! Sábado y domingo fueron días suficientes para conocer algunos de los lugares donde se grabaron escenas de la película y también hay otros lugares considerados como los que sirvieron de inspiración para el libro (no los incluí en este post) Primera parada: ✨📍Carver Café (dónde Bella come con Charlie) pensaba desayunar aquí peeeeroooo pequeño detalle, me tocó cerrado. En este caso confíen en su pagina de Facebook porque postean mas que en Instagram 🥲 …a darle hasta Washington!🚙 🧛🏼📍Forks (población 3120 personas). El letrero de bienvenida es el primer punto. Hay un centro de visitantes y aquí puedes ver la camioneta roja de Bella 🛻el centro es muy pequeño como todo pueblo en EU y lo primero que quería hacer fue formarme para el siguiente tour disponible (ya casi cerraban) en la exhibición de artículos oficiales de la película 🤩 hay desde los vestuarios utilizados por los actores hasta fan art. Y lo mejor de todo es GRATIS!🫶🏽 (solo te piden una pequeña cooperación, lo que sea tu voluntad) Bueno ya fue mucho #teamedward ,siguiente parada: #teamJacob 🍎antes de llegar a tierras #quileute está la línea de tratado donde los vampiros no pueden entrar 🤭 Y unos kilómetros más adelante llegas a 🌊📍La Push, baby! Decidí pasar la noche aquí porque me cautivo la fría playa y la tranquilidad que había (no hay señal de teléfono ☝🏽) Al día siguiente hice últimas compras y de vuelta a casa sin antes pasar a la última parada: ✨📍”Forks High School” de la película que está en otro pueblito llamado Kalama. Boat yard sunset🌅⚓️ This is my favorite boat yard and the area of Avondale in Westerly,RI is my photography playground. The reason I say this is because I can photograph birds in the morning,sunrise and sunset at this boat yard and explore the lingering boats and docks along a mile road. I also enjoy this area in foggy conditions. Either the last week of May or early June all the boats will have arrived and been docked until the end of summer. I’ve already started photographing a few boats but the colorful and yellow sail boats are yet to come! This is an area I spend a lot of time at if I’m not in Watch hill. Oh! Burst of pink over the coastal scenery.🌅 An hour before arriving to this boat yard I was walking on a beach in Watch Hill trying to photograph some birds. Wasn’t having a ton of luck so I switched my lenses once I was in a favorite coastal area of mine called Avondale. I wasn’t too sure how good sunset would be but golden hour was fantastic along Avondale rd. A quick decision with mins to spare led me to this boat yard off the side of a road to capture sunset. I wasn’t expecting this intense quick burst of pink spreading through the sky but it was pretty amazing. Dawn on Breach Inlet 2012 Here’s another shot with the iconic ‘Lighthouse House’ overlooking the Breach Inlet, which sadly was demolished recently. (Others refer to it as the ‘wedding cake house’ so a friend of mine dubbed it the CakeLightHouse to cover all the bases. Not bad). Now when I first saw this house one of the reasons I started think of it as a lighthouse is because it was alone on this point (like a good lighthouse should be). But this photo wasn’t actually from that era. I made this image at a much later time after huge houses had proliferated all over Sullivan’s Island. In the original of this photo (a three shot panorama) there is a taller, broader, bigger, and totally uninspiring beach McMansion immediately to the right of the LHH. Well that always bothered me, so for this presentation I obliterated its pixels. If only I could do that in real life. This shot now captures the feel of how that wonderful icon originally appeared to me. After I posted my drone shot of this house three days ago the grandson of the last owners reached out to me to see if I had anymore shots. I think this is the best one (I might have some really old shots of it on slides but if I haven’t digitized them by now I doubt I’ll ever be able to find them). So this is for you Trey, and the Tezza family.
