We are thrillled to have @inkwellretreats Michelle Boyd in our center this morning for a workshop based on her wonderful book, which has been the focus of our CFDE “slow reading” group this semester. After a hard week or so for Emory and higher education more generally, Michelle has invited us to “close the door” for a little while and create space for re-grounding and re-centering ourselves as scholarly writers. #scholarlywriting #facultydevelopment #emorycfde #emoryfaculty

We in the CFDE understand that everyone is deeply impacted by the events that took place on campus last Thursday and everything that has followed since, and that you might be uncertain about how to best support your students (and yourself) as the semester comes to a close. If students are reaching out to you to talk about what’s going on and their concerns and/or feelings, consider that this is possibly because they trust you. So please do listen to them, even if you are unsure about what to say. Active, compassionate listening is a good place to start and allow space for students to share what they are thinking and feeling. The CFDE resources in the link in our bio may be a good place to start. You can also find them by navigating to cfde.emory.edu and looking for the link on our homepage. #CFDEsupport #CampusCaring #ListenActively #CompassionateListening #StudentTrust #SupportiveSpaces #EmoryResources #CFDECommunity #StudentWellbeing #SemesterClosure #emoryfaculty #facultydevelopment #emorycfde #campusunrest #teachingintumultuous times

The people in the exposed communities either reside close together or gather to socialize, says Dr. Saad Omer in Emory Vaccine Center.
