This past week, my sister @selenisleyvaofficial and I had the pleasure of sharing our story at that iconic @dramabookshop in New York City! If you know our book was published in 2020 March 22nd, in the beginning of a crisis that we all know to Be called Covid19! Each day we were giving news like cancellations from the events, social distancing, staying home,where it was basically becoming a new norm each and every day each week into months and years! with that being said, my sister and I could not attend our book tour how it was scheduled to be, and to be honest we were devastated that we could not attend our book tour and connect with our readers and share our story physically when you get to experience all the ins and outs, from the preparations of the book to the reasoning of why this book even began, there’s something about intimate connection with the people who support you and we no longer could have done that! But thankfully, with the power of technology, we were able to connect with readers through zooms other online groups, where we were able to connect and talk about our story and see that the work that we have done was being delivered I am forever grateful. This past week on Tuesday was truly magical after four years, We got to physically connect with our readers and do a Q&A and book signing. We got to physically connect, It was intimate. It was full of love full of laughter, and stories that we shared with one another and realizing how much relatable we all are, truly beautiful! It’s a Monday of Firsts! First — first birding walk, with new friend Helen! I’m told it was a slow morning, but still, to me, 𝘴𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘣𝘪𝘳𝘣𝘴. I got more good pictures of leaves and branches than of birds. So I’m told, so it goes. Then — first book signing at the Drama Book Shop! They’re on their third or fourth order of these. And because I just recently finished reading through all these plays once the compilation was a physical thing in my hands, I can honestly tell you that I am 𝘴𝘰 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘥 this exists and hope you tell all your friends. I hope this sells like wildfire, elevates the profiles of the theatermakers in the collection, and spurs many more such collections. There’s so much room in the world for all these stories and more. 22.11.23 Having returned to Westport, Connecticut and with a day to spare before our first experience of US Thanksgiving, it was time for another day trip into New York City. Having arrived at Grand Central, we had some time to kill before our time slot to go up the @edgenyc. Luckily enough, whilst walking in that direction we stumbled across this brilliant bookshop, simple called @dramabookshop. The current shop designed by @hamiltonmusical scenic designer David Korins. Founded in 1917, the store has moved locations several times. The location they moved into in 2001 had a 60 seat downstairs theatre, which launched the careers of @lin_manuel and Thomas Kail with their breakthrough, multi-Tony Award winning play 'In The Heights'. It was with their purchase (along with two others) in 2020, that the store moved to its current location. Speaking of heights I was pleased to stumble across a book of art from Wes Anderson films including a cool drawing of a balloon flying from a cruise ship. Next: Edge NYC

🎭 The Drama Bookshop 🎭 This bookstore was so unique and beautiful! The books hanging and weaving through the front half of the store were so cool! ✨ The store was filled with all things theater/Broadway. 스티븐 손드하임 뮤지컬 원작인 동명의 희곡 아래 드라마북샵에서 구매 후 다 읽고 뮤지컬 공연을 보는게 목표였지만 실패하고, 여행의 후유증이 빠지는 와중에야 완독. .사건이 시간 역순으로 흐르는 구성이어서, 한 사람의 인생을 타고 올라가는 기분이다. 인생의 기로에서 내린 선택의 결과를 보고 난 뒤에, 바로 그 선택을 하게되는 순간을 바라보다 보면 연민과 답답함이 느껴졌는데 마치 내 인생을 회고할 때와 비슷한 느낌이 아닐까 했다. 특히 주인공이 이혼 후 배를 타고 떠날 때! 하지만 그것도 결국 그의 선택이기에, 그는 누구도 탓할 수 없다. 탓해서는 안되었다. .주인공이 원작에서는 극작가로, 뮤지컬에서는 작곡가로 등장한 것이 흥미로웠다. 작가 본인들이 투영된 느낌. 뮤지컬에서 좀 더 세 친구의 관계나 메리의 감정이 잘 드러났던 것 같고, 원래 각색된 작품은 먼저 접한 쪽으로 마음이 쏠리는 경향이 있기도 해서, 나는 뮤지컬이 더 좋긴 했다. #merrilywerollalong #메릴리위롤어롱 #GeorgeSKaufman #samuelfrench #dramabookshop #완독기록_2024
