Walking a path with Santa Muerte comes with discipline. This is what I've learned throughout the years of my devotion from my own experience and through what Santisima has taught me. as well as what one of my elders has talked to me about. Discipline can come in so many ways when walking this path. Discipline will help to assist in staying consistent with your devotion. Doing your prayers is one way of staying consistent. Invocation and protection prayers. I myself every first of the month will pray the Fire Novena to Santisima along with my invocation and protection prayers. The Fire Novena consists of 9 different prayers that are prayed for 9 days straight. Which to me is a form of discipline. I believe this novena will help assist in staying consistent as you become disciplined with other prayers you choose to pray. In my stories, I have shared in the past the translated version of the Fire Novena since I have translated it. Keep in mind this novena doesn't have catholic prayers as the prayers are speaking directly to Santa Muerte. In my story, I now have Day One of the novena in both the original version (Spanish) and the translated one I've translated. No, this is not a novena written by me. La Roja reminds me the importance of relationships. I’ve witnessed real friendship, but also have seen who isn’t there when times are tough. I’ve looked at my own ways of how I’ve shown up in relationships too while extending grace to myself. No point in whipping myself over my actions..instead move forward with the new tools & awareness. Lately been revisiting my ideas of faith & my connection with The Divine. Seeing how I’ve let certain folks, or religious ideals deter me away from that relationship. But mama has been asking me to look at it. I look at my ancestors that were people of faith, church goin’, praying every day, believing in a higher power. I didn’t always agree with them or their beliefs..but I now have respect for them. It’s like the more I connect with them I feel the shame, guilt, and misconceptions melt away. It’s a comfort to know that mama muerte is there no matter what. Having dealt with this overwhelming feeling of loneliness even when around others for years, it’s a nice change of pace to be reminded that I’m not. She’s constantly showing me that she has my back, as well as helping me see that my ancestors, and others are there for me. Sometimes it’s hard to see it in the moment when I’m so focused on the issues at hand, or constantly trying to find solutions myself. She helps me lift my head up from time to time. As someone that can at times struggle in silence, or just processing things by myself this message from mama made me cry. She wants us to ask for help, why would she want her child to suffer in such a way? Especially if she knows that we want to improve. This current energy has been bringing up emotions that truly make me rethink how I go about things. It’s also brought up painful emotions too. It was interesting because I was crying to mama out of frustration earlier in the day about being the one everyone goes to when they need help, but who can I turn to when I need help? And then later that day she shared that message. It’s like on a conscious level sometimes you know that you can turn to her, but to allow yourself to feel it as truth touches something deep. I’m grateful though that I have her help. That I don’t have to keep it all to myself when things are tough. With her I can let all parts be seen..even when I feel alone, frustrated, or deep grief. Her love is a soothing balm to ease the pain, and to help me process.
