I literally closed my eyes and trusted your plan…. When I found out I was pregnant my Spring semester of my Junior year, so many thoughts raced through my head. Fear seeped in, doubt came, and I began to believe that all of my hopes and dreams were to be discarded, but the Lord had a plan for me. Fear of what people would say, think, how they would view me, all came rushing in. But the Lord said “I have not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind”. I heard the talk and the snares. “She’s probably going to drop out, she won’t be able to finish that’s a shame”, but I held on to the voice of the Lord, for he said DON’T QUIT. I will carry you through. Bringing my daughter on campus was one of the scariest things I’ve ever done, but the Lord showed up and showed out for me in ways I couldn’t imagine. Being a first time mom and a full-time college student was not easy, but the Lord made provision. The Lord is so intentional to the point where he had me walk across the stage as a college graduate on Mother’s Day 🥹Thank you father. You have brought me through storms that I never saw a way out of. To my daughter, I love you, and I’d do it all for you over and over again. Thank you for blessing me with the gift of motherhood. Mommy is going to set the best example she can and show you how there is tremendous strength in being broken before the Lord. There is nothing you can’t do! If God be for me, who can be against me?? To my acts family @actsuiuc , you have made this year this year one of the most transformational and fulfilling years of my life. Thank you for the Bible studies, the fellowship, the sleepovers, and taking in Navy as your own. I love all of you guys. God is good all of the time. Through it all God was by my side even in the times I wasn’t even speaking to him. I used to think that God didn’t love me, because he didn’t give me the mercy of taking me out while I was living through abuse, rape, kidnapping, pain, suffering, broken bones, being paralyzed and dealing with cancer. I thought why do I have to suffer? But I was suffering because I wasn’t calling out to God to save me. I was calling out for him to end me. And he let me see what it felt like to be ended, glimpses of what it’s like to live without him. While all the time ready to save me and shower me with love and loving me enough to never let me be snuffed out, because although it would of been a mercy to die, my soul was in jeopardy and I had so much work that I would do to heal others who weren’t armed with the same strength and fortitude I was. When I finally decided to live. And to live for him , my whole world shifted. Although there are still times of struggle, temptation and even trauma. Now I’m armed, and experiencing reality differently. Now I’m allowing myself to be loved, guided, uplifted. That perspective shift has given me so much power, healing and even influence. My body healed miraculously, my spirit was repaired, my mind was restored, my heart was full of love and joy, I became capable of forgiveness. It’s amazing the work the Holy Spirit can do in your life when you pray for intercession. He can be your champion, or your companion. I choose both. No one is mightier or more loving than my God. He’s blessed me with more miracles than can be counted. He continues to bless me every day. If ever there was proof that God is real it is in every breath I have been gifted. I hope that as I grow, heal and share my story that it serves as a symbol of hope, faith, encouragement and unconditional love. I hope that it stirs something inside of each of you and awakens and strengthens you to know that you are a powerful person who is granted grace, love and acceptance. Fellow followers of Christ, some of you have been attacked repeatedly by Satan and his army, whether it's been physically, paranormally, mentally, emotionally. It's been constant. The last week my family especially myself have been feeling these attacks intensify. I sit here typing this out at 2:19 am because I can't sleep due to praying, telling the evil one and his army to leave in Christ's name. I've been having intense dreams about the rapture, I've been in my Bible, praying, and studying with more intensity. And well, we all know that makes the one downstairs full of rage. "Each of you should continue to live in whatever situation the Lord has placed you, and remain as you were when God first called you." - 1 Corinthians 7:17 This comes from the great Apostle Paul. It had been brought to his attention that the Church of Corinth was having problems. One of which was division. According to the commentary from my Study Bible on the First Corinthian letter, "You can do God's work anywhere". We may be so concerned about what we could be doing for God somewhere else that we miss great opportunities right where we are! We should not assume we are in the wrong place or stuck with the wrong people- you may be just where God wants you! I believe God has placed me where I am and I should take every advantage of every opportunity to serve Him here. To serve in my community, to serve through my work and to lead a Christlike life in my home! Paul says that when you become a Christian, you should continue with the work you have previously been doing- provided it isn't immoral or unethical. Every job can become Christian work when you realize that it can be an opportunity to honor, serve and speak out for Christ. "Yes, each of you should remain as you were when God called you." - 1 Corinthians 7:20 This scripture really spoke out during my study. This is a period of fervent prayer and fasting for me. Hello friend! I am so excited to be creating this welcoming safe HAVEN community. This is a quick introduction into my life and how I got here. So for starters, my name is Stephanie and I am a twenty-six year old mom to Greyson, who is one and a half, and engaged to the love of my life, Stephen. We live a pretty “normal” life. Stephen and I both work full time and we have family members watch Greyson five days a week. So some may be asking themselves “how did you get here?” Well, one day at work I had a revelation from the Holy Spirit. I was filled with emotions and physical symptoms and it was all a little overwhelming if I am being honest. The Lord spoke to me loud and clear. I was given the message to quit my job and become a missionary. To start a podcast and a bible study where all friends and babies are welcome. Create a safe haven where new mothers struggling the same way I have, feel safe to open up about their struggles and find peace and healing from this community. To provide guidance to new mothers and struggling women to find their purpose and pathway back to the Lord. To provide a judgment free zone to just BE. So, here we are. Starting from the ground up and following the path the Lord is leading me on. I have had so many reasons to NOT do this and to quit, but I refuse to let this calling be ignored. And since this space is a safe haven for all, I have to be honest and say that I do not have all the answers. I currently struggle with anxiety, depression, purposelessness, and so much more. 3/14/2024 - Embracing my natural mane… 🦁 It may not seem like a big change since I’ve been growing my hair out for the last year(ish), but if you saw the pile of hair my girl, @Esme.by.Myam, swept up after all was said & done… 😳 The journey of embracing my natural hair represents so much more than a style — it’s the outward embodiment of my liberation to show up as my true self… not who people expect me to be, which I’ve done most of my life. Taking the energy to care for my mental health means letting go of achieving a standard to fit a mold… Gone are the days I straight iron or chemically straighten my hair to have the stereotypical “stick-straight Asian” hair. (‘Cause in my head: if I couldn’t be white, then I could at least attempt to be the model minority… right?? Wrong.) The health of my hair, and inner self, and my time… THANKS the work I’ve done AND continue to do, unraveling deep-rooted lies that uphold the status quo, despite the real uncomfortable ache. S e e k i n g • R E S T 🌱🕊️✨ 3/2/2024 - Entering the third month of 2024, learning to be by myself more… in that, I’m actually slowing down amidst a lot of mental health healing. ❤️🩹 I’m learning to say “no” (instead of the exhausted “yes” in fear of FOMO) & not putting myself in places where I know will activate me — like another meeting to discuss diversity for the Families of Color at our older boys’ school (letting Chris take the reigns for now in advocating for the needed change there). I actually opted out of 3 social things this weekend so that I can stay home. This makes trips more enjoyable, so we can go hard without me melting down… like Whistler ⛷️🏔️ last week! It also means finding the little • GLIMMERS • that give me JOY in the daily mundane, like: * Sporting a cute workout jumpsuit that makes me happy (even if I’m not working out) 😘 * Hints of Spring 🌱 * A grounding devotional to start the day with deep breaths and time with Jesus ✝️ * Listening to a good audiobook 🎧📚 * Learning to set boundaries with those that bring added stress to an already stressful life * Celebrating the joys of being a woman, this month & every month * AND a walk in the sunshine (even if it’s still cold) while my middle son is at his therapy session. 💛 As I continue to learn to live in the BOTH / AND, here’s to actively focusing on being present (and hopefully preventing my next breakdown 😏)… • • • “He makes me lie down in green pastures.
