Carys’s struggles felt so real while reading her story. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Ersan and Cary’s story come to life. Their relationship turmoil has been hinted at since book one, so I was really excited to get into the nitty-gritty of their story. Overall, it was really well done. This story was focused on Cary and Ersan’s romance and development, but also closed out the overall conflict with the violet witches. My favorite part of this series as a whole are how relatable all the characters are. Their struggles are real struggles that we as readers go through in our own lives. I loved how each of these books revolved around our various main characters and we were got to dive into all their individual stories. This was a fantastic close to the series and I’m really sad to be living Okrith. Nothing felt overlooked or rushed which is what I’m always worried about when closing out long series. Really, really great. I would definitely recommend this series and this novel. If you've been following my reading, I did a Crescent City series reread prior to the House of Flame and Shadow release. I started hofas yesterday and I'm already 60% through... that's the fastest I've ever read a book! I'm such a SJM fangirl. In addition to my cc reread, I read Ruthless Vows which was an incredible close to the duology and I got to meet Rebecca Ross at my local Barnes & Noble who was the sweetest. I recieved an arc of Twelfth Knight (full review in a previous post) but love love loved that story. My favorite read of the month was House of Sky and Breath. '*•.¸♡ ᴛᴡᴇʟғᴛʜ ᴋɴɪɢʜᴛ ♡¸.•*' This book took me by surprise! It took me a bit to get into this book. There was a lot of game niche specific terms that I didn’t understand and I thought Jack was unappealing. So to anyone that feels like that in the first 10% of this book, KEEP GOING. By the end of this story, I want to get some friends together and sign up for a tabletop style game. 𝙄 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙠. I felt myself not wanting to put this down. I was itching to find out what would happen to these characters and how the story would shape out. There was 𝙖 𝙩𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙪𝙣𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙫𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨 in this story. As a fellow angry girl, I loved Vi. I felt so understood and seen by her character. Although this is about a romance, it was also about so much more. A coming of age, trying to find yourself and what life is really about story. Seeing Jack’s world fall apart post-injury and then open up to all that life has to offer while going through all his feelings was so incredibly authentic. There are so many great developed supporting characters in this book. We got a glimpse into everyone's world and it just made me like this story even more. There was 𝙖 𝙡𝙤𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙡𝙨 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙏𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙛𝙩𝙝 𝙆𝙣𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙑𝙞 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙅𝙖𝙘𝙠’𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥 which was interesting to watch unfold. I felt like it brought more dimension to each of their individual characters. Vi was learning how to let people in and Jack was gaining perspective. This is this first story where I really want their to be rating percentages between 4 and 5. I want to give this book 5 stars based on how much I loved it, but because the beginning was slower and I wasn’t as hooked immediately, I’m giving it 4 stars (true rating is 4.5). ｡･ﾟﾟ･ ᴛʜᴇ ᴇᴠᴇʀɢʀᴇᴇɴ ʜᴇɪʀ ･ﾟﾟ･｡ Such an incredible read! I loved Neelo’s character development throughout this book and to learn more about them. Watching both Neelo and Talhan come into their own and learn how to show vulnerability was so beautiful to experience. The representation of Neelo as a nonbinary character was something that I have yet to see portrayed accurately and respectfully until this book. The Five Crowns of Okrith series has quickly become one of my favorites. Mulford has created such a vast world that I just want to become a part of. Neelo and Talhan made me 𝙨𝙬𝙤𝙤𝙣 throughout this entire read.
