Mama and Ellie’s very first art collab 🎨💖 Swipe to see step by step photos Step 1️⃣: Choose paint colours (I used acrylic), plop them on a canvas. We don’t want any paint on baby! Step 2️⃣: Carefully place canvas in a bag, tape sides to ensure cleanliness. Step 3️⃣: Get baby to smush the canvas to move paint around under the bag. (Honestly this was the tricky part because she wasn’t interested at first. I tried placing her hands and toys on top to get her attention. I also sat her on top and placed wrapping paper on top since she loves to crumple paper. This helped a lot with spreading the paint. I also held her up and let her stomp on the canvas! Very affective. Sometimes you just gotta be creative when you create. 😂 She really enjoyed seeing the colours! Step4️⃣: Carefully remove tape and bag on top of canvas while wet. Step5️⃣: Air dry & do whatever you please! ✨C’est fini! ✨ So much fun to make and super easy. From around 6 months I set up a kitchen themed treasure basket for Little to explore while I was cooking in the kitchen. Including things like toy pans and bowls, measuring spoons and cooking utensils. Little crawled from 6 months and wanted to be off exploring so this was a great way of entertaining her while I needed to be in the kitchen with some relevant tools, and she was in a emptying and transferring phase so that provided lots of fun (and an obstacle course for me!) Black and white cards for the newborn. In the first few months of life a baby’s eyesight is quite poor. It’s hard for them to focus and differentiate colours, so black and white images with sharp outlines are much easier to see. Such cards will stimulate the baby and help nurture visual development. You can hang them in the baby’s movement area, next to the change table (like I did) or simply use them as flashcards. I have printed mine off Huggies website 😅 there is a QR code on the box of newborn nappies for it. I then cut them and laminated. Exploring the kitchen 🥣 A great activity for babies, a chance for them to explore the oddly shaped items. Florence was so engrossed in this, she was reaching out for items which is exactly what i hoped she would try to do. To get herself into a different position, to stretch and practice her pincer grip with different shapes and sized objects 🩵 Sometimes it really is the easiest set up that they love the most!
SIMPLE WATER-PLAY ACTIVITY💦 What I used: •Tuff tray •Glass dish (with some warm water in) •Various water animals •Boats •Towel to the side This activity was lots of fun, easy to clean and educational too! As you can see I placed a glass dish half full with warm water in our tuff tray (could use any large tray without holes in!) and placed a few sea animals and boats around the tray, both in and out of the water. I let F explore the tray with her whole body, she explored all the sea animals and boats with her hands and mouth, splashed in the water, poured the water out (into the actual tuff tray) and had a good taste of the water too!😂 She would crawl over to the edge and pass me back and forth the different toys she had. While she played I narrated what I saw or what she was playing with i.e. ‘yellow boat’, ‘red seahorse’, ‘splash splash splash’, just to help put some words to her play! Once she decided she was finished I simply removed her vest and nappy and wrapped in towel, got her redressed and threw the towel into the tray with collected all the remaining water leaving me with a dry tray and some water toys to leave to dry on the side!

Edible sand using Cheerios 🏖️ To make this you can simply blend Cheerios, I used a hand blender (pop a tea towel over the top as it does spit out bits and gets dusty!) but you can use any food blender. This is baby taste safe, so Florence can get stuck in too 🥰 Ted loves the sand, and knows not to eat it. That’s something I’ve been asked before. I tell him if it’s ok for him to eat or not when setting up an activity. Florence puts everything in her mouth so I only give her play access to things that are safe for her to do so 💛 I added some dinos and scenery, but you can add anything you’d like to your tray. I have previously used spoons, jugs, buckets and spades in a tuff tray, different animals, diggers, bricks.. basically anything that can be cleaned afterwards🦕
