Lunch in a Mall food court. This is an example of a What-Not-To do. This dish is disguised as a wonton noodle with charsiew chicken. Only the picture looks good. There is no such thing as charsiew chicken. Charsiew means BBQ pork. The glooppy sweet sauce was just awful. The chef did not match the dish – no passion, no cultural accuracy = Avoid. ProTip: a. In large food courts in Malls, the menu has to cater for all cultures. So all food has to be Halal. Halal = no pork & alcohol. Choose the food type that is always going to be good in Halal format. b. If the culture of the food does not match the culture of the chef. Avoid. In general terms, if I, as a Chinese tried to bake you a Cornish pasty, you are going to have doubts but won't say it. Your head is already warning you.
