What Is the Nature of Our God Shiva? God Shiva is all and in all, one without a second, the Supreme Being and only Absolute Reality. He is Pati, our Lord, immanent and transcendent. To create, preserve, destroy, conceal and reveal are His five powers. Aum. God Shiva is a one being, yet we understand Him in three perfections: Absolute Reality, Pure Consciousness and Primal Soul. As Absolute Reality, Shiva is unmanifest, unchanging and transcendent, the Self God, timeless, form less and spaceless. As Pure Consciousness, Shiva is the manifest primal substance, pure love and light flowing through all form, existing everywhere in time and space as infinite intelligence and power. As Primal Soul, Shiva is the five-fold manifestation: Brahma, the creator; Vishnu, the preserver; Rudra, the destroyer; Mahesvara, the veiling Lord, and Sadashiva, the revealer. He is our personal Lord, source of all three worlds. Our divine Father-Mother protects, nurtures, and guides us, veiling Truth as we evolve, revealing it when we are mature enough to receive God’s bountiful grace. The epitome n epiphany of endurance.. Week 5 - Days 5 6 7 of @beatthestreethq It is said that pain is essential n suffering is optional.. If you suffer be sure to suffer for the ‘right’ reasons - a good cause. Suffering doesn’t have to be bad it can be a cleansing, one who enjoys more will suffer more as one becomes more sensitive. Sadness n sorrow has a depth that touches the very bottom of your being that happiness can’t reach. We have to be satisfied with a little bit of suffering n within these two banks of happiness n sadness the river flows.. Feeling as if I’m on a razors edge hanging on by a thread on the brink of destruction riding through the pain n difficulties, my awareness is enhanced being ever more conscious of every fibre of my entire being. With this heightened sensitivity I’m adapting, fine tuning n focusing on each n every pedal stroke with absolute precision not to cause any further damage n to be able to keep going - taken to another place.. Knowing this suffering is by choice n I could stop at any time, my heart goes out to all those who are truly suffering who have no choice no voice. This kept me going in spite of the body n mind yelling at me to stop - yet something far greater was urging me to carry on n endJOYure 🙂 As we navigate our paths, let us draw inspiration from the wise, inviting each of us to quiet our minds n open our hearts. In moments of despair, find your anchor in the anchor of your breath n the empowering repetition of a mantra. Solidarity, Not Sameness Hindu solidarity is not an original idea. It has become very popular in India itself. Whatever our background, we can and we must maintain our sectarian roots and heritage, cultivate our differences and become strong within them, as the Christians did. There exists a common bond between all Hindus. What is that bond? Number one, it is the belief in karma and dharma. The Shaivites and the Vaishnavites, the Shaktas and the Smartas all believe in karma and dharma. Number two is reincarnation. Number three is the all-pervasiveness of God and the sanctity of the Vedas. If we accept these three basic beliefs - along with tolerance for all the religions of the world coupled with the belief that all people, whatever their spiritual path, will one day attain to knowledge of God - then we can say, “Yes, we are Hindus.” Though the branches of Hinduism are many and different, the roots are common to us all. We share so much, and we can never forget this. Sharing a common heritage, we can then, with confidence, follow our own path. If that path is liberal Hindu, fine. If that path is Shaivite Hindu, Vaishnava Hindu or Shakta Hindu, fine. Let each follow his own path. Let each perfect himself and purify himself within the context of his individual way. We must know and get the strength from the heritage of our roots. That is a real strength; that is a genuine Hindu solidarity. It is not strength for us all to call out for others to be exactly as we are. A tree has one trunk, one root system, but for survival its branches must reach in many directions. Parenting from “Living with Shiva” by Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami An all-pervasive mental disease has come to the planet. It started in the West and is spreading worldwide. It is the modern way that parents talk to their children, by stating a question when actually giving direction or instruction, such as, “Why don’t we all get in the car now?” “Why don’t you put on your coat?” “Don’t you think it’s time for you children to turn off the TV and go to bed?” These kinds of phrases are used in the family homes and in offices throughout the modern world. Children given the choice “Why don’t you?” before the instruction of what to do are disadvantaged. They are forced to make a yes-or-no decision before complying with the request, and sometimes it might be “no.” When undecided, children comply reluctantly. Giving these kinds of choices to young people, which is being done today even at the five-year-old level and younger, is a new way of raising them which puts parents at a disadvantage. They become beholden to their child’s every mood, thought and preference. It does not take long for even very young children raised in the “why don’t you” method to catch on and understand that they are permitted, indeed expected, to make a personal choice in all that happens in family life. An aggressive few of these children will take over the home and begin giving orders to the parents, unkindly, abusively. Most often, when choices are given, they take the opposite point of view. When you ask a child, “Why don’t we turn off the TV?” he may answer, “No, I’m not turning off the television, because the program I’m watching has not ended yet.” When you suggest, “Shall we all get into the car?” he will respond, “I am not getting in the car. You all go. I’m staying home.” If you then force him to change his decision after asking him to make a choice, you are considered unreasonable. Bom Bole! 🌞⛰🎶 Week 4 Day 7 Redoubt Fort assault! Rasing the energy up high first thing in the morning with a green juice followed by lots of mangoes 🌱 🥭 😋 A looong day out on a beautiful day on the bike for over 8hrs with lots of reps going up Redoubt fort hill! We began at the local @parkrun with @beatthestreethq collecting bonus points with the mobile beat box and mystery lamppost giving out extra points ✨ Once that was over we made our way to the Redoubt Fort where there were so many putting in the effort reaching the top for those extra points. I see our local legend Nick Vanmoof - a cycling God - flying about n smashing it up the hill! I was accompanied for some of the ride by fellow participant Tyler D. A wonderful talented boy full of smiles who’s 10’years of age, out for 5hrs on his bike - being his biggest ever ride - doing fantastic following me up the hill doing his best to stay on my wheel!! I was so inspired by everyone taking part it was such a glorious day where I did a lot more than I anticipated being galvanised and thoroughly enjoying myself. Jaya Mahadeva 🌈🌦✨ Week 4 - Day 3 A very long day getting out on the bike in the early hours of the morning for @beatthestreethq with a bit more tempo being cautious testing the body. Chanting Aum Namah Shivaya for 2 hours straight along with what I had captured from the intimate acoustic set night with @samgarrettmusic getting us through it! Papaya for breakfast post ride after lots of stretching yoga meditation which has been daily! Wonderful to see the birds enjoying the papaya too!! It’s a beautiful feeling to witness, nothing goes to waste!!! Out again for a gentle spin in the evening for a couple of hours tapping away embracing the rainy weather making the most of it n catching sight of the beautiful sky decorated with whispy clouds, falling rain n rainbows 🌦🌈✨ A short nap before setting off to London after midnight to stock up on lots of fruit! As I’m waiting for another pallet at 3am we make the most of it n do some stretching!! Evolution of Greed When we are under the influence of greed, we have a strong desire to have something, or to have more of something that we already have. For example, we want more money. We understand, that in order to get more money, we should put some more effort (work longer hours, do some training in order to get promotion etc.). Here is what is going happen if we don’t learn to control our greed: 1. Loss of friends. We will find ourselves “too busy” to meet friends, we will pay less attention to them, and there will be “nothing to talk about” anymore; 2. Lack of free time. We will work harder and longer to get what we want (what we think we want), there will be less time to relax, less time for self-realization, family and everything else, that is outside the concept of our happiness (make more money). The worst thing is - we will not understand that we are under the influence of greed. We will genuinely think that “I am busy making money – there is no time for anything else”; 3. Lack of energy. Because we work hard, we don’t rest enough. Also, if the greed is too strong, our sleep quality can get affected. We can be too stressed to sleep. No time for sleep – need to make money? Because of constantly being tired, we will have to find the ways to relax: to fall asleep fast (alcohol, smoking, drugs), to make ourselves happier (overeat in the evenings) etc.; 4. Diseases. It is obvious that the inability to rest will lead us to mental and physical diseases. In order to make money, we had lost our health.
