Read this again! Just because someone is giving you attention does not mean they TRULY love you. What are they actually doing on the sidelines, without recognition, to show that love? Attachment is not connection. Oh how I know this to be true!! I had an ex who was sooo attached to me. Tried to like what I liked, eat what I ate, even would follow me upstairs and sit on the end of the bed when I’d put the kids to bed. On the surface it felt nice, but on a deeper level...there was no meaningful conversation, no heart to hearts, no emotional bonding or support. Just fluff ☁️ As for doing just the bare minimum, well that’s just tolerance! True love and respect goes waaayyy past tolerance. Going out of your way to do more than what’s expected...that’s what love is all about ❤️

Pretty powerful words. And so very true. We want to make sure we don't get confused between attention and love. It should be easy to love since we are made in God's image but unfortunately that's not always the case. Love is beautiful when it's shared by two people but it can be devastating when it's only one-sided so it's good to be cautious.
