In December 2022, the great Pâtissier @halokada_229 was featured on a super famous TV program in Japan, called Jounetsu Tairiku. After the TV broadcast, they were terribly busy, especially from the end of 2022 to this January. Actually, the quality of sweets deserves it. Today I bought Strawberry Rare Cheese Tart with Soy Milk, Premium Mont Blanc Cake and Maple Salt Cookies. About 2 years ago, in March 2021, I went to the restaurant for the first time. They change the menu every 2 months. Then, they were serving Finnish breakfast. In the past 2 years, I have tried a variety of breakfasts there every 2 months. If someone asks me which was my best, I would answer “Finnish Breakfast” very soon. This February and March, they’ve been serving it again for the first time in 2 years. Today, my impression was the same as 2 years ago. Everything was awesome. Especially, Karjalanpiirakka (Karelian pies) with Munavoi (egg butter) was simply nice. Laskiaispulla (Finnish Cream Bun) was tasty just as before. I tried Marjamehu (Bilberry Juice) for the first time, and it was also very nice. I’ll take a trip to some European countries this summer. One of them is Finland for the first time for me. Dopo la fine della prima ondata mi sono spesso chiesta come avessimo fatto, come ci fossimo riusciti. Non sapevamo niente, non eravamo pronti, nessuno ci aveva preparati. Nessuno avrebbe potuto prepararci ad una cosa così. E un giorno ci siamo trovati questo macigno sulle spalle, ci parlavamo con gli occhi e le lavagnette da dietro le mascherine e attraverso i vetri, avevamo tutto doppio. Due cuffie, due mascherine, due paia di guanti, due paia di calzari. E poi un camice piombato, uno idrorepellente e una visiera. E mentre il mondo fuori si fermava, il nostro piccolo mondo ovattato, ormai infetto, ha iniziato a correre forte e a girare più veloce e ha iniziato a farci correre, a farci fare turni eterni, a farci perdere ore di sonno, a farci girare la testa, a farci autoisolare quando tornavamo a casa, a farci ammalare. Brividi, occhi lucidi e magone solo a pensarci (e non sono notoriamente una sensibilona). Poi ad un certo punto ci siamo ricordati che sapevamo farlo bene il nostro lavoro, “solo” ci veniva chiesto di farlo in un modo diverso, abbiamo capito che potevamo contare gli uni sugli altri, che avevamo paura ma non il tempo per averla, che il cinismo, l’ironia macabra e i sorrisi potevano sostituire gli abbracci che non ci era consentito dare. The biggest reason, their Strawberry Sponge Cake was always sold out within 1 hour or so. Today I was lucky to enter the café around 11:00 and have the Cake for the first time in 2 months. I also tried a new cake, Strawberry Cheesecake. The fresh cream of the Sponge Cake was just awesome as always, and Cheesecake was also nice. Today, I went to see Cirque du Soleil for the first time. I didn't know that we were allowed to take photos in the finale. Somehow and super fortunately, I got a front-row seat. The view was absolutely different from others, and back rows may be nice to see the whole stage, generally. Actually, it was a very precious experience that I could see every movement of every world-class performer in front of my eyes. I have no words to express, but every act and performance were just amazing. COVID-19 changed our lives, but I realized again the greatness of entertainment and how it gives an impression and inspires people. I was lucky that a repeat customer brought premium strawberries called Skyberry grown in Tochigi Prefecture, the number one producer of strawberries in Japan. It's surprisingly 3 to 4 times as large as strawberries sold in general supermarkets in Tokyo. It tastes light, very sweet, juicy, and incredibly not sour at all. Last night, I had dinner at one of my most favorite restaurants. It was the 11th time for me to be there. After taking a Yoga class yesterday morning, I dropped by the restaurant where it’s only 100-200 meters away from the Yoga studio, my office and apartment. They change the menu every 2 months and have been serving Romanian breakfast in December and January. Especially, I liked Ciorba (Romanian meatball soup), Cascaval Pane (fried cheese) and Papanasi (fried cheese doughnuts). It’s always nice to learn about food cultures of any other countries at the restaurant. They will serve Finnish breakfast in February and March. I tried it there about 2 years ago. After visiting a customer’s office in Shinjuku this morning, dropped by the pop-up store of @seaveges introduced by my friend, in an event of ISETAN Shinjuku. We Japanese people traditionally have eating habits of seaweed, but I couldn’t imagine the taste of SEAWEED SWEETS and SEA WINE at all. As a result, all of them were amazingly tasty. I was especially surprised by the textures and how to use green laver (Aonori) and red seaweed. I just respect the point of their observation, inquiring mind, energy, passion, and all efforts to develop and bring out the best in each ingredient. After playing a 5-a-side football, had dinner at one of my best restaurants for the first time in 6 months last night. It was the 10th time for me to be there. Their menu is developed from a variety of cuisine cultures of Denmark, France, Japan, etc. I'm always impressed with well-selected ingredients, their uniqueness, idea, techniques, specialty, hospitality, inquiring mind, passion and professionalism. All dishes were far beyond my expectation and just fantastic as always. The 2nd floor is their bar. There was a cool fashion pop-up store of @temporary_tokyo about 6 months ago. I bought a shirt then. Coincidentally, they were there again last night. I had an intuitive interest in a sweater and bought it again. It's getting cold, so I'll wear it routinely.
