Great weekend getaway at The Greystone Inn! @thegreystoneinn The Inn is located on the beautiful Lake Toxaway in The North Carolina Mountains. Tons of fun activities to do around the property or you can chill and do nothing at all. Spa, kayaking, fishing, hiking, boating activities, scavenger hunts and movie nights on the lawn are just some of the fun activities offered! The hotel has a couple of accommodation options located in the mansion or in the suites and cottages by the lake. We stayed in the Hillmont Suite and it was perfect for us! Balcony overlooking the lake, fireplace, soaking tub and 2 beds. Great option for families if you need connecting rooms as well. Shortly after check in we hopped on the Miss Lucy for a late afternoon lake cruise. Gorgeous weather and loved seeing all the fabulous homes on the lake. Got back in time for an exciting bear sighting and then headed to dinner at The Lakeside restaurant. Babes were excited to see Fairy Bread and a kids charcuterie board on the menu :) Dinner was delicious! As my time is winding down for my time in Utah, I’m now officially in the bittersweet phase of the trip. As I was heading down to the kitchen from the third floor of my brother’s house, I was pleasantly ambushed on level two by Bella, the ridiculously adorable, miniature, Pug/Griffon(?) mix dog (see yesterday’s post for photos). She followed me down to the kitchen and hung out with me while I made coffee, then jumped up in my lap for what is a short-lived but exceedingly sweet Travel Ritual No.1: Coffee on the patio with Bella in my lap. I’ll miss this. All of this. I don’t see my brother as often as I’d like. When I do, I immerse myself in his world. All the kids and dogs and related mayhem. It was my brother’s emergency surgery that brought me here, but that doesn’t diminish the specialness of the connection and the celebration of being here with him and his family (including all of the adorable dogs I’ve now fallen in love with). In the midst of all of that, I have also been able to connect with a dear old friend and even cultivate new, special connection. I am full of gratitude in this moment. While being here now is feeling a bit bittersweet, what is unfolding before me is so incredible, so expansive, so nourishing.
